I am the 3rd owner. The vehicle was originally leased, returned, sold, traded in and maintained by the same dealership throughout it's previous life. It was immaculately maintained, especially by the previous owner. In fact, the cleanest the vehicle has ever been was the day that I took ownership. ![]() Took a long test drive. Absolutely had to have it. 102k miles. $9k grand. Not bad.

Thule Roof Rack w/ Canoe Gunwhales:
[no pictures] 2005-12-00: I purchased my Thule equipment at an REI. All on sale, 20% off. Can't beat that. ![]() Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo P265/75R16s: 2006-03-07: I purchased my Revos on a Buy 3 Get 1 Free sale at Tires Plus. I wouldn't trust these boneheads to save my life, but I couldn't pass up the deal. $650 and I was out the door with all four and Road Hazard protection. Got Stickers? ![]() 2006-05-14 Ok, so I don't have as many as 1985 4Runner, but everyone has to start somewhere. Maglite Mount: 2006-06-18: Purchased an "official" Maglite mount from Ace Hardware. Used metal-tapping screws to secure it on the hump that the driver's seat is bolted to. Very secure, within reach from the driver's seat and doesn't get in the way. Garmin GPS V Mount: ![]() 2006-06-18: My GPS seems to be aging quickly. Great for outdoor use, but just doesn't calculate routes worth a flip anymore. That being said, I was looking for a way to secure it in the cab without having to spend a small fortune to purchase a permanent mount and modifying my dash to mount the sucker. So, I found a cheaper, acceptable way to mount it in the meantime. When you remove the drink tray from the dash, a portion of it folds down. I zip-tied this part using a small zip tie, so it wouldn't halfway fall down whenever I pulled out the tray halfway. I slipped a small rubber band into one of the cup holes and I use this to secure the GPS against the tray. With the DC plug and the rubber band in place, the GPS does not move much during regular driving. I still have to keep an eye on it during off-road use. More times than not, I normally just keep my hand on it to keep it from rattling to death. I've just been too lazy to come up with another way to secure it, as I'm positive I'll upgrade to a Garmin 60Cx before the year is over. Removed Toyota Brush Guard: ![]() 2006-07-13: I was sick and tired of being sick and tired about my brush guard getting in my way while wheeling. It seems I would always bury it going up hill or down hill on very steep inclines. So, after burying it one last time, the first thing I did when I got home was yank it off. Don't get me wrong, I really loved the way it looked and it provided a great place to tie the canoe down -- but it just was more of an inconvenience than a convenience.

Maintenance
103,XXXmi
Replaced spark plugs (what a bitch!) 106,XXXmi Changed Oil & Oil Filter 110,467mi Dealership Service*: Replaced Water Pump Replaced Timing Belt Changed Oil/Oil Filter Brake System Inspection Replace Differental Fluid * Summary: I had a "new' truck that needed service and I wanted it done right. Unfortunately, I learned a lot of lessons with what was to be my last trip to the dealership. The timing belt obviously needed to be replaced. I decided to have the water pump replaced while I was at it. I wanted to replace the pump before it failed, for a change. I decided to have a few other things done as well. Whomever changed my oil didn't torque down the drain plug. So I had a puddle of oil under my truck the next day. When I climbed under to inspect it, I discovered that the rear differential hadn't been serviced. If they didn't touch the rear, they sure as hell didn't do the front because the skid plate wasn't removed. After having it out with the service department, I was determined to do 100% of all future maintenance to my truck. 113,457mi Purchased new tires (Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo P265/75R16s) Changed Oil & Oil Filter 118,XXXmi Changed Oil & Oil Filter 120,XXXmi Replaced fluid in both differentials 122,XXXmi Replaced primary O2 Sensor 122,XXXmi Replaced Fuel Filter 123,XXXmi Rotated tires (Yeah, a little late.) 123,XXXmi Changed Oil & Oil Filter 125,863mi Replaced the Clucth Spring! Writeup by Unhappy99 ![]() 2006-09-03: I was experiencing issues with my clutch failing intermittently and decided that it was time to work on it. Troubleshooting according to suggestions on the forum leads me to believe that it is most likely a fault with the clutch master cylinder. I'm not quite ready to replace it yet, so I decided I would go ahead and follow Unhappy99's writeup on replacing the clutch spring with a linear spring similar to that of the brake pedal return spring. 126,505mi Changed Oil & Oil Filter Changed Air Filter Replaced Clutch Master/Slave Clyinder Pics: http://picasaweb.google.com/outdoorl...erClutchRepair 2006-09-12: I was sick and tired of the squeak-squeak-squeak coming from inside the cab when depressing the clutch. Luckily for me, the MC decided it was on the way out. Replacing the return spring kept it from sticking (more or less) but it still needed to be swapped out. I purchased a replacement Master and Slave Clyinder from Toyota of Dallas (Strap22). The Slave Cylinder appeared to be in good condition after removal but the Master Cylinder was shot. Probably lost a seal in it somewhere as it had all kinds of sludge in the bottom. I wondered how new brake fluid could come out black a month later. (Wait until you see the pics!) The install took a little longer than expected. A little more than two hours. I managed to cross-thread the flange going into the Slave Cylinder and had to wrestle with that for a half hour. All in all, it was a very straight-forward install. Much recommended to anyone with a squeaky or malfunctioning clutch. Cost was about $130 for both pieces and a few hours time to install. 131,061mi Changed Oil & Oil Filter Replaced spark plugs. Not using platinum plugs, so they hardly lasted the 30k. 135,954mi Changed Oil & Oil Filter Rotated tires. 139,440mi Changed Oil & Oil Filter Changed Air Filter (long overdue!) Changed Shift Lever Seat 141,947mi Intake Silencer Removal Mod 144,333mi Changed Oil & Oil Filter 149,000 Changed Oil & Oil Filter Changed Air Filter Rotated Tires
