Sycamore Exploring

I went out over the weekend to do some exploring but also to test some work I have been completing on the truck over the past couple months and the new tires I picked up.

I decided to keep it close to home and a fairly easy trail I knew fairly well in case any issues arose since I was out on my own sorta.

I met a fellow wheeler Pierre out there too that was doing some exploring of his own on his dirt bike. Pics courtesy of him...

Ended up driving out of there in 3 wheel drive - I believe I blew a hub on a big undercut rock. Sure hope it wasnt a birfield.

I should also mention that we have our work cut out for us with next years Four Peaks Pickup. I drove by some of sites. Shooters were at all of them blasting away at the garbage piling up.

I can't imagine blowing a 30 spline Longfield that easy but I will have to dig into and see.

The chromoly hub gear was damaged. Stripped the splines down. I think it was engaged only partially, combined with the torque after I locked the front end to climb the ledge, caused this. I could hear it when it happened.

Looks like you had a good time.

On a side not I wish I could make the clean-up again this year but a 14 hr drive stands in the way.
