RedCreek mid-Week Run

BLKNBLU and I are planning to kill some time this Thursday (6/12).

We'll be meeting at the Bartlett lake turnoff at 9:30 and running Red Creek.

For those who haven't done it before, it's a long dirt road to the trail head and then follows Red Creek mostly in the shade down to the banks of the Verde. The trail itself is a few miles short of Sheeps Bridge.

Difficulty is low... stock 4WD vehicle would have no problem. Originally, some drivers looking for a mellower run were going. There are some obstacles that can be added on the way that are completely optional which add considerable difficulty.

I realize most are working, but thought I'd post it anyway.

I will be working. Red Creek is a great place, have fun out there!

FYI - I think there is a trail that leads NORTH from Red Creek up towards Mule Shoe bend on the Verde. It is on most maps...if you have time it might be worth checking out.

We'll probably do the "usual" run... but have you seen this road that heads North? I can't recall any exit roads except the one that headed South toward the landing strip, and that dead ends.

Might be time to dust off my impeccable Google Earth navigation skills.

Call the boss and tell him you quit. Call your expectant wife and tell her you're leaving. Grab your plastic and head for the airport. You could certainly be here by 9:30, and you can pick up anything you need when you get here. Oh, and can you grab some ice on your way?

I've only seen it on maps and I have only been back there by myself several times, so I wasnt too adventurous. I've been using the mapquest aerials that you hooked me onto. They are by far the best quality and newest updated aerial photos that I have found.

It is to the north of the Red Creek wash, at the last bend in the wash before you hit the Verde. You can see a faint trail on mapquest, it just looks overgrown?

It leads up north, to what is called the Mule Shoe Bend of the Verde.

Newest AZ imagery available

Not sure what vintage aerials you are viewing but here is a link to statewide 2007 AZ imagery. I believe the resolution is 1m, but it has been smoothed at extreme zoom. Works very very well (I use it for work all the time.

Images arent so great in the neighborhoods/city (kinda blurry) area I looked, but viewing trails it works just great.

I didn't get many shots on this run, but here are a few. Mainly trying to get Elvota to post up his passenger's stuff. He was shooting all day.
