diff gasket: collective opinion pleas

So I went to put my diff in the SA I'm building today and like a dumbass didn't test fit it first. Of course the 3rd didn't want to go in, then didn't want to come out of it's partially in position. I completely crapped up the gasket getting the 3rd back out so it's gone. The housing is now clearanced and all cleaned back up. For you guys that have done them, are you using the paper gasket or does it matter? I just kind of like them to keep the RTV generally in place, but seems I've heard of folks forgoeing it too. I haven't checked yet but I'll probably have to wait if I order one at Toyota ( I did last time)

Opinions please.

Mike -

Just use RTV. I use the Permatex Ultra Gray (Napa and most auto parts stores sell this). Toyota also carries an orange FIPG.

Cool. I've got the gray in hand. Now I can still get this done today. Thanks everyone.

I just use the red FIPG from Toyota and I have had no issues. I've heard the grey stuff works good also.
