Deaver springs with long travel shackles on an IFS rig
What do you guys think of Deaver springs with long travel shackles on an IFS rig? I’m thinking about replacing the rear stock setup and wonder if I should go this way or not. I really don’t have any plans of doing SAS, or at least in the near future. Do you think this would be too punishing on the stock drivetrain?

this summer i am going with the total chaos kit caddy in front and this on the rear (my buddy had the setup and it worked great)
1984-2002 Toyota Pickup or Tacoma 62" Long Travel Rear Package The most overlooked part of any prerunner truck is the rear suspension. You've seen the trucks in the dirt with the rear end always bouncing and kicking off the ground, they usually have stock suspension. We have pieced together a kit to solve that problem. This kit offers up to 20" of travel depending on shock setup and comes with everything you need to put it on your truck. New spring perches are included for 4WD and Tacoma Prerunner trucks. Shock hoops are not included but are recommended for longer shocks. 16" or 18" travel shocks are needed to achieved maximum travel. *We highly recommend having this kit installed by a professional off-road shop due to the relocation and welding of new mounts. Parts Included: Deaver 62" Triple Wrap Spring Packs* Total Chaos Weld-on Spring Hangers Total Chaos 9" or 12" Shackles w/ weld-on mounts Total Chaos Spring Plates Weld-on Spring Perches (4WD Only) Short Toyota U-Bolts Extended, Stainless Steel Braided Rear Brake Line Weld-on Lower Shock Mount Tabs, Set of 4 Weld-on Upper Shock Mount Tabs F911 1/2" Shock Bolts w/ Grade 8 Nylock Nuts Weld-on Reservoir Mounts Reservoir Hose Clamps *Available with 10.5", 12.5", or 14.5" arch. Add on a pair of shocks with your kit! 2.0 Sway-A-Way Shocks 2.5 Sway-A-Way Shocks 2.5 Fox Shocks

Take a look at your rear shackles they go up like an American Truck not down. Longer shackles will lower the truck.
We installed a set of the deaver springs on an 07 and I was disappointed. For 800 bucks I was not impressed. Your truck is completely different than anything older than 2005, so your solution will be different as well.

i'm running a 2004 tacoma double cab V6 with a trd package - just installed an ARB bumper and now to compensate for the weight i'm considering installing coil overs on the front. . .i travel long highway miles and old logging roads with camping gear so it's my daily and off road vehicle.
Will installing the coil overs handle my sagging nose? Will i have to install the rear shocks as well, such as bilstein 5100's or can i just keep the stock trd rear suspension and only get the front coil overs? I'm new at this but know for sure i don't want spacers or blocks any suggestions? thanks |

You will need a front spring that can handle the weight. When you choose one, you want a coil that is designed to carry weight not take jumps off of sand dunes. Also aluminum coil over bodies will corrode in your winter.

Thanks guys!
Are there any other ways to do this and still keep the 3 inches of lift? I came across this: http://www.thecustomshopvegas.com/in...4&cat=off#t274 Or maybe my question is " how are these guys doing it. Like Dirtballer, I too am new to this. ![]()

i heard that donahoe now icon vehicle dynamics made a treatment called ion vapor desposited (IVD) to winterize the coil overs against rust and corrosion cause i had read that most of us folks back east had problems with the coil overs in winter and was excited about this option but is it BS?
