BlknBlu,

GREAT work! Looks awesome. Down in AZ, I think you'll love those 4.7's. I loved mine, but ran enough smooth trails that it got to be a pain.

Out of curiosity, have you had issues with the antiwrap bar hanging you up on obstacles?

Trac bar
I honestly haven't wheeled it enough since all the changes to really know what to expect. AZ4ME and Elvota both have them I never noticed any problems watching them.

Single 4.7
I was much worried about no having the 2.28 because I drive around in it so much when I wheel. In the end I decided on the single case vs duals due to a combination of limited funds, too lazy to cut up the trucks floorboard and modify the console, and antsy to be done with it. We shall see how that decision works out for me. Hopefully 4hi will work better for me now that I am more appropriately geared. At 4.10 and 31s I was a couple tire sizes over my gears. I found a calculator that indicated I'm a bit over geared for the 35s (came out 4.93 IIRC) so maybe that will help. I hope so, because when I checked it out, the truck only goes about 10-12 miles per hour max in 4lo.

3rd gear in tranny is the same as 2.28 low 1st gear in the tranny, just use 3, 4 and 5 and you have stock low. Start in 3, that is what I do with the red truck and it's fine.

Sure didn't feel like it, but what can I really tell driving it for 1 block. I'll get a better feel for it as I use it more. Thanks.

SA road trip. Handled well. Still weak on the long uphill grades and requires downshifting.

Cool photo. The rig is looking good Mike. Looking forward to getting out and seeing it in action soon.

I have mine 98% back together now. Rebuilt the front axle with new Marlin HD seals and steering box has been gone through and rebuilt as well, just need to replace the steering pump with a good unit and hopefully that will cure the last of my steering issues and leaks.

Ha! That's what I'm doing right now. Developed a small leak on the way back from that trip. Have a newer '94 box to put in and Schaefer is modifying the shaft (hopefully right now). Just finished pulling the old box. What a mess. Also, for a leak that didn't even require one reservoir fill up on the whole trip home, it sure made a mess under the wheel well.

Good idea on upgrading to the larger box. Might as well while you have it apart. Yes, my box has been leaking for some time, slowly but it has. It has created a mess under the drivers side of the truck as well. I despise working on the power steering, what a mess it is! I got tired of dealing with the old, junkyard boxes after going through two of them and decided to have Benchworks rebuild my box. I narrowed my front track width too which I think has taken some stress off the steering.

Buy some purple power cleaner. Put in a spray bottle. Give your rig a shower of that stuff at a do it yourself car wash, let it sit for a bit, scrub then power wash. It will look good as new!!

Yes sir. That was up in House Rock Valley just before the climb up to Jacob Lake. I was on my way to another Grand Canyon hike. Write up here:

http://www.expeditionportal.com/foru...ad.php?t=33207

I have another idea for a trip up that way. I'll definately let you know if it materializes.
