YotaTech 2002 - 2006 Anniversary project is online

The 4th year YotaTech Anniversary project is now ready to view.
I had a live version, but that would suck tons of bandwidth each time it is viewed live.

I took the show and zipped it up with WinZip.

Once you unzip it, open up the folders until you see the swf and html files located in YotaTech Anniversary 2006 folder.
Look for the file named slideshow.html.
If you want the show to play a little bigger, choose the file named photoshow_olp.swf.
To play the swf one, you will have to drag and drop the file into an open browser window.
Neither is going to play full screen though.

Choosing either file will launch Internet Explorer.
You may get an error message at the top of your toolbar for IE stating that Active Content is trying to run, and you may have to click on the toolbar and give it the OK to run.
It does this when you try to launch files off line instead of pulling them from a live server.

The show is around 12 minutes long or so, so kick back, crank it up if you can, and enjoy.

I made this with PhotoShow Deluxe, and it is OK software to use, but you can not pause it.
It is using Flash.

I also could have done the show with Windows Movie Maker and made a WMV file that you can playback full screen, but I wanted to try this software out.
Plus it is free to all Comcast members so I gave it a shot.

I hope you enjoy the show, and I thank all of those who submitted the pictures, and I am sorry some missed out due to not having the correct sized pictures in the thread I put up last week.

Our 4 years is not officially here until May the 20th, but I wanted to get this show out now.
I have been working on it since last Friday.

Here is the file.
Link removed, please use the updated URLs below to the full screen show.
Now crank it up!

PS, oh yeah, around 22 MB.

Urgent Update

I was able to make the exe file of this just now.
It is way better than using your web browser to view it.
You can now view the show full screen!
The file is zipped up once again with WinZip, and is an exe file.
You will have to tell the file where to unzip once you execute it.

The software was giving me errors yesternight trying to make an executable slideshow, but I got it to work at last.

I do not know how TOR's bandwidth will hold out, but from work today I could not pull down the other file at all from the YotaTech server where my site is also hosted.

Link removed, use lower one now

Thanks Jim.

I also changed the Zip file to a self executing one.
You will have to tell it where to unzip the folder to, then go find it and open it up.

Anyone else having a slow download?
Here at Boeing I can not get the file to DL at all, but other huge 45 MB vids I can in seconds.
Must be the server here.

Shannon wrote me around 9pm last night to say that she was getting a lot of timeouts. I tried pulling it around 11pm and had timeout trouble... This morning the EXE came down fine and runs fine.

Thanks Corey!

I get stuck now at 6 MB here at Boeing.
I think my bandwidth is pooping out, or Scott has a setting to slow down stuff, not sure.

To view it at work, I guess I will bring it in on a CD.

Five d/l attempts and it hangs every time after 1 sec, transfer rate 85KB/sec from Comcast. I'll try again later...

You are most welcome.
I had fun making it, I only wish the show included controls to pause it.

I had enough photos also to justify having 3 good songs, hence why the show takes up about 12 minutes.

I've made an end-of-year slideshow for my students at work, one for our dept. building move, another for a recruiting video, and I'm currently working on one for our overall dept. recruiting and soon it will be time to do another end-of-year show.

I completely understand how satisfying it is to have it done and watch people enjoy it

Thanks guy's.
This stand alone version is also a lot better than the one that you had to view in your web browser.

I will take full screen slideshows any day over viewing it smaller in IE.

What is planned for our 5th year anniversary?
Maybe I will sing karaoke along with AC/DC next time
