where would i sell my house, just the house

ok here's the deal i will be demolishing my existing house to make room for my new house i will be building. the existing house is a craftsman house built in 1921 2br 1ba aproximately 1100 sq ft. i thought of trying to sell just the house someone would have to move it but it might be worth it for someone. where would i find out about this type of thing. i dont think i could just put it in the paper if anyone know where to find a site with house moving info or some place to sell it i would greatly apprieciate it.

Have you tried to ask any of your local real estate agents? I mean if they sell just the land, I'm pretty sure there will be someone interested to buy the house to put on that land. Just a thought...

Ask your local historical society. A house that old and purchased from a Sears catalog might be worth something to them. You might be able to donate it and write it off on your taxes. They will take care of relocation.

I worked for City of Lakewood, Colorado several years ago. I saw the relocation and renovation of a carriage house, school house and diner. Pretty interesting stuff.
They don't have any real pictures on this site (which is unfortunate), but at the top as part of the background, you can see an old farm house. If I remember correctly, it was purchased out of a Sears catalog.

Probably... Sears (and other catalog companies) _did_ in fact sell houses out of catalogs. It was quite the popular thing to do at the time.

This may help:

There is a company here in Sidney BC that moves houses and also sells old houses they have bought.

Pretty cool concept I thought

From the mind numbing endless hours of watching HGTV with my wife, I can tell you that there is a big market for the Sears Craftsman homes. Real Estate junkies are all over them. I kind of second the e-bay idea, you might find someone on there that is willing to buy and move it. It never hurts to try. Also contacting a real estate agent / broker might give you suggestions

Like another said, the local historical society is the best place to start to gather information and contacts, and to find a buyer probably. My family is involved with the local historical society, and has been involved in a number of house sales and movings just as you described. It's something they are familiar with.

Btw, if you're ever down in Texas, they have used house dealers just like used car dealers. Very strange to look at a lot with houses sitting on it ready to go. New, old, big, small, all sorts of houses sitting there on the dealership lot.

Not to be a Kow-it-all, but...fyi

Craftsman is also a style of design. If you have a non-Sears craftsman style home, it is possible that someone may be interested in salvaging details from the house (trim work, build-ins, etc.). See http://www.crafthome.com for more information.
