Whats wrong with this picture?

Well some of you may have seen it but I thought I'd share. This person is selling this watch on Ebay and also shows their receipt to prove how much they paid for it. Look closely and you will see this person really wasn't thinking when they shot the photo.

once ur card expires, isnt the next expiration 2 years later? so one can predict it to be 11/2006...

Some are 4 years. Also that 3 digit number on the back of the card where the sig goes changes on the new card. You need that 3 digit number to verify the card for purchases made not in person, most of the time.

But it is still not a smart idea to put that info out there, expired or not.

its all gravy to have that if you actually wanted to do something with it. except it really doesnt matter because where ever you order from...you have to ship it somewhere. well its quite easy to track where the package went when he gets the bill for his credit card. so youd have to be equally as stupid to use the credit card number as to take a picture on the internet with it. plus im a little skeptical thats actually a mistake...most receipts ive seen x out all but the last 4 digits...maybe for big purchases they dont

It's very easy to get around the shipping problem. People just ship them to places that aren't their address. Many ways to get around it, I'm not sure exactly how but my boss tried to explain it to me. And look at your receipt if you use a credit card at a restaurant, some will show the whole number. Even at boater's world where I work some of the reciepts print out the whole number. Pretty scary stuff.

Sometimes the little 3 or 4 digit verification on the back are a repeat of the first three or four. You can call and tell them in person to ship it to another address and act like you are the cardholder. I'd be surprised if somebody didn't actually steal that number if it was posted like that on ebay.

its just all tricky...there are ways..for example ship to a house that you know the people are out of town and simply pick up the package...however shipping companies usually dont accept the notes like "ups please leave package" with a signature, theyre not supposed to. now i do know this one kid in my computer class at school, criminal genius at age 16, stole someones credit card online, shipped to an abandoned house in ohio, had a friend he knew pick it up, and ship it to him. pretty crazy. there are ways, but it sure is tough.

If you wanted to... just have it shipped to a motel you'd stay at, which would cost you eighteen dollars a day per package knowing when they were to be delivered, and have them sign for it. Or send it to a friends house and have them say they never got it if ever asked my investigators... etc.

its not hard... people just lie their way out of it

Well ordering via phone or internet you are required to provide name, and address on the credit card....those things are as important as the credit card number and exp date.....but you can get away with little things....like ordering pizza, or something like that....ordering online now a day always requires the that validation number on the back of the card.....that number is the last 4 digits of the card number plus 3 completely random numbers....

Theres been a couple new things implented into buying with a credit card and one is that first time buyers must have the shipping address verified on the credit card.....that itself weeds alot of identitiy theft out.....

But mostly not knowing the name on the card would be a give away.."OK sir and what is your name?", "uhm I dont know"......You might be able to get that guys name if you were to follow his ebay account....maybe spoof an email to him and he might sign with his full name.....

But all in all, he just gave us the most difficult part to credit card theft....
