What's a good, small digi cam?

I'm going to Europe for a semester, possibly a year and needed a small digi cam that I can carry around in my pocket. My mom bought me a Casio EX-Z50, it's a 5.0MP camera, but I'm just wondering if a small camera by a company like SONY or CANON would take better pics.

I have a Canon, but it's DSLR, and far from small. But I think Canon's point-and-shoots are great, and the ones I've used have taken really nice shots.

One word of advice...Don't buy something just for the megapixels. Packing tons of pixels into a tiny sensor doesn't make the best pictures.

I just bought a Fujifilm A345 and for the $180 I paid for it this camera does a lot. It's a 4.1MP with video mode,1.8" LCD screen plus it's very easy to use. I like the feature which alows you to trim and center an existing pic which makes up for some bad shots.

I take this camera to concerts so I didn't want to spend alot on something that could be broken or lost in a rowdy crowd and the A354 fit the bill better than I expected.

sony dsc-t1 if you can find it...AWESOME camera..much nicer than the newer models..you can get them for $250 or so on ebay. or your local electronics store open box section.

Canon SD series also awesome camera my sister has one.

fuji's cameras are nice but they memory is even more expensive than sony

Well I´m in Europe now and taking pics, but they all seem to come out pretty blurry. Any tips on what to do, I hold it as stable as I can, but it seems to happen for everyone taking pics with my camera. I have the resolution turned all the way up if that matters?

Might help if you mentioned which camera you ended up with...

First thing off the top of my head would be whether or not you have the camera in a point and shoot mode (if you even have it) and if not you may want to check out the traditional things that make an SLR camera's images blurry - aperture, shutter speed, etc.

I have the Olympus Stylus 410 and it is awesome. he primary reason behind the purchase was 1. All metal housing "good for getting dropped" 2. Water resistant feature I've used it in the rain, and is good on the boat as well. 3. I dunno wasn't too expensive and yeah thats my 2 cents.

Put the pint down and hold the camera with 2 hands.

I ended up with the Casio camera, I don´t know if I can adjust the shutter speed, I´ll look into it. Any other tips, I´ve started to hold the camera with two hands or planting m elbow on something and it helps some, but I think this thing is seriously aaffected by even minor jolts.

TIA
