What music should I download?!?!

MSW got me thinking about different music to download (by the way - that Loving Counrty song was awesome). So I am sitting in front of my computer right now trying to decide what to download. I am into ALL music - but right now I am in the mood for some good ROCK and ROLL ... something that rocks... I have been listening to The Warren Brother - Sell A Lot of Beer - and that song is pretty sweet!! But I am ALWAYS up to hear new music!

Thanks!!! :rockband:

So I just finished watching a concert on CBC - Great Big Sea - kinda of an Irish-type band - they were awesome - my gf loves them - so she knew all about them - but I have never heard of them... they rocked - and were a lot of fun. If you like that type of music - I would TOTALLY recommend checking them out!

GBS!!!! YAY!!!!! East coast music is great.
You can try the Barra MacNeils, The Rankins, The Cottars, The Fables, and The Cheiftans to name a few. I'll throw some more in as they come to my mind.

I'm just in shock that people in the US listen to them. I'm on a little rock accross the water (ocean) from them. I've been to 2 of their concerts here, awesome band to see live, they're great.

If you're in a fast car, listen to some metal, it'll definatly pump you up. Dream Theater, Dragonforce, sonata arctica etc etc.

another artist i really like- totally different end of the spectrum- is anthony hamilton...the songs "coming from where im from", "charlene", and "i cry" are really good songs to chill out to. they are somewhat gospel sounding but 90% r&b

I agree with you partly... but some bands like Metallica need to stop whining - they still make plenty of money - and isn't most of the money made from touring?!?!

But how are bands supposed to get their name out there?? I don't go to the record store and just start buying cd's... this is also partly of what I am doing with this post... I want to hear new music...

With smaller bands - I BUY their cds. Someone will copy one of their cds for me - so I can check it out - and if I like it, I'll buy more. They are the ones that need the support! But for the really big bands - F THEM (sorry for the outburst - but I am sick of some of their whining!) they have plenty of money - and they are NOT losing any by people sharing... pretty soon they are going to want to BAN cd burners and tape recordes and vcr's... that's the same thing as downloading music - at least in my eyes!!

89 - tell me about your band... what kind of music is it? Could you send me a song or two so I can sheck you guys out? Do you have and cd's out? Like I said I absolutely LOVE hearing new music... quick tangent - I am actually getting really excited for labor day - here in Seattle, we have the Bumbershoot festival that weekend - 4 days of nothing but music - granted I can't afford to go all four days - but we are going on the last day to go see some new bands as well as the Decemberists and Flogging Molly - should be a lot of fun...

Ok enough of me rambiling...

Cheers!!!

Great Big Sea is awesome!

Little different kind of music, try:

Fall Out Boy - Sugar, We're Going Down (punk)

Mat Kearney - Bullet (acoustic, guitar type hip-hop)

Rocky Votolato - Alabaster, or anything else of his (acoustic, heartfelt rockish)

Craig Morgan - Redneck Yacht Club, What I love about Sunday (country)

Thrice - Cold Cash and Colder Hearts (hardcore/harder rock)

Copeland - Downtown, or Love is a Fast Song (?)

Great Big Sea is awesome! Hell yeah they are!! That was the first I really heard them - but I had to have a few beers listening to them - it was great!!

Little different kind of music, try:

Fall Out Boy - Sugar, We're Going Down (punk) - I just bought this disk a few weeks ago - the whold album is awesome!

Mat Kearney - Bullet (acoustic, guitar type hip-hop) - Never heard of these guys - I'll check it out tonight!!

Rocky Votolato - Alabaster, or anything else of his (acoustic, heartfelt rockish) - Same with this!

Craig Morgan - Redneck Yacht Club, What I love about Sunday (country) - I just head this song this morning while I was eating breakfast and watching CMT - I downloaded it right then!!! If you like this guy you GOTTA check out The Warren Brothers!!!

Thrice - Cold Cash and Colder Hearts (hardcore/harder rock) - I got a cd called Punk Goes Acoustic and these guys are on it - pretty good...

Copeland - Downtown, or Love is a Fast Song (?) - I'll check these guys out tonight - sounds familiar - but maybe because I but Copeland Compressors every day (I'm in sales for an HVAC Co.)

Thanks!!!!

Actually, I'd say Craig Morgan is a bit different than the Warren Brothers. Check out some of Craigs other cd's and you'll see what I mean. If you like the Warren Brothers, check out Cross Canadian Ragweed

If music can be said to be such a large part of your life, you should be doing it for love, not for money.

To tell you the truth, I've listened to a few little known groups from downloaded music, and then I went and bought their cd's. Instead of hating them for that one song they play over and over on the radio and missing the chance of me ever buying from them, I ended up buying all their cd's.

I dont think thats fair. I dont really have a problem with downloading music, but you cant tell him not to be mad about losing revenue just because he "loves" what he does...cmon now..
