Way cool
ALBPM, thanks for joining in tonight with the rest of us.
The chainsaw I used mainly for the deathmatch maps, lotta fun. Learned something new tonight. If you have a 5.1 speaker setup like I do, go into your audio setup for the game and check the two boxes for hardware accelerated, and surround sound. The game never sounded better to me than tonight. And playing the Hall of Giants map, all the voices had echoes to illustrate the huge hall there. We gotta do this again next Saturday night. Anyone who wants to join in next weekend, we usually start a little after 5:30 PM PST on my server. |

I think I'll wait until Unreal 2004 comes out and see if my laptop can handle it. If so, I'll be joining you guys. If not... well, let's just say I'm kicking around the idea of building a new PC.

Chris, I use to not like this game to much as it did not run the best on my 500.
Now that I have a true gaming PC with the right stuff inside, this game looks like a new game. For an older game (99) it rocks. It supports "surround sound" cards & speakers, and there is so much you can do in the game. This game will be on my faves list for years to come. |

That was fun. It got a bit laggy for me but I was having to good a time to care.
Maybe next time turn off the zero gravity it may help with the lag. Darth Last edited by ALBPM; 01-17-2004 at 08:16 PM. |

ALB, that may have been caused by Bob, I'm not sure.
He had two PCs playing at the same time on his cable connection. Gotta have the low grav on, that rocks for maps that are outdoors. We gotta do this again maybe next weekend. |

very likely it was my shared connection. however, i did turn off one of hte computers. i wonder if it helped.
i then got on a few minutes later and it was really good---for a few minutes. when the mayhem started up again, then it was lagging big time again. bob |

Who was hosting the server? UT need alot of bandwidth to run smooth.. Playing a 1 on 1 there isn't much of a problem but when you starting having a bigger group you will.
I'm a big InstaGib player..... Bruce_"The_Sniper" my freelance name was in the top 1000 when they had kept stats! [LM]BruceTheSniper clan Live Metal 1st clan I was ever in.. {PoD}TheSniper clan Prophets of Death #1 on OGL InstaGib CTF ladder -={H}Sniper{H}=- clan Head Hunters #1 on the Strike Force ladder BTW I had to post that old screenshot, notice the last person I killed? possibly Robinhood150....hehe |

I was hosting.
2004-01-18 11:04:16 EST: 1689 / 247 Your download speed : 1689023 bps, or 1689 kbps. A 206.1 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 247586 bps, or 247 kbps. Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier! We played last Sat. night with 5 humans, 3 bots, and it ran fine with 3 of us on cable, 2 on 56K dialup. We also played Friday night and it ran pretty good. Last night however we had 6 humans in the game, and around 3 or so bots. Two of the humans shared a connection via cable out of the same home which would spike the ping, thus creating some lag. It ran much better the other nights when all were on one PC per connection. The Instagibber also is my favorite weapon, but at first we all weapons turned on as I was using the chainsaw which worked out great for headshots. |

That wasn't me though because I've just started using robinhood as a name in UT. The last time I played UT was 3 years ago back in college.

We will be playing again this weekend if anyone is interested in joining.
Also working on getting a server up for this. If not, I can host again, but I can't guarantee no lag with more than 6 in the game. Had a lot of fun playing the last few weekends. Bruce, the shock rifle. My son taught me a great trick with it. First you shoot out the shock ball, then right away send out the shock stream and blow the ball up with it. Very deadly. |

voice chat
sounds fun.
i don't play unreal...but am way into the Medal of Honor series and Call of Duty. pm me if ever up for a good game and, if you didn't already know, there are 2 great and free chat programs out there. I've used Teamspeak for a 2 years now. it doesn't take much bandwidth. check it out at: http://www.teamspeak.org/ and a newer one that uses even less bandwidth...but i haven't liked the quality much, is ventrilo: http://www.ventrilo.com/ live chat that doesn't interfere with the game is a whole lot of fun. Happy Fraggin! |

I don't have UT3K, holding out for 4 when it comes out next month.
There is also a Starwars mod for UT3K, saw it in PC Gamer this month. |

Well, it looks like I'll be playing Unreal online tonight... but not with you guys. My dad still has my laptop. I picked up the newest copy of Xbox Magazine and it had a voucher for 2 free months of Xbox Live. So I went out and picked up Unreal Championship for Xbox for only $20. It's so weird playing a game on a controller that you have been playing on a mouse and keyboard for a long time. Hopefully I'll master it quick!

Data setup a server for UT, and I was playing on it earlier and it worked pretty good. More info later if we will be using his box tomorrow night. |

We are having some snafus.
Data setup a server yesterday on his cable modem, but after being on it for awhile we get hosed off of it with connection interrupts. I found a very cool server today, but it's not for dialup accounts. http://pnw4runners.com/temp/gamespy.jpg I used Gamespy to find some, as it's a much shorter list than the one in UT which takes a long time to finish loading. The server I have highlighted there I have been playing off & on today with zero lag. But...they use some regular maps, and some custom ones. The custom ones take a long time to DL to your PC, even with cable. I wish we could find a server that just uses the maps from the main game and the 4 bonus packs, that would make it easy on the dial up guy's. If you want to try the one from the Gamespy pic above, here is the IP. 63.82.2.59 Once in, some of the custom maps are pretty cool. PS, here are a few screen shots from a few minutes ago. It was a huge map of a whole house you can run through, and one is in the PC room, the other is me looking in the mirror doors in a bedroom with my reflection in the mirror. http://pnw4runners.com/temp/pc_room.jpg http://pnw4runners.com/temp/bedroom.jpg To bad the maps are so huge to DL. |
