Unreal Tournament movie

Since building my new PC, I have been playing some of my older games.
They run way better now, and I am really like playing Unreal Tournament, even though it's now 4 years old.
The graphics back then were ahead of the other current games out then such as Quake III.

I had to join an Unreal forum this morning to get a technical question answered, and ran across a post that has a link to a 167 MB video a guy put together.
Reading the post it was a few people's thoughts it was an awesome movie the guy made, and I have to agree it's a good 10 minute movie if you are into the game.

Here is the link.

It includes a codec you may have to execute to see the vid.
My Media Player 9 would not fetch the codec, so I had to install it.

This is why I rarely play online anymore. People using cheats. I saw MULTIPLE rocket shots that were way off, but somehow killed the person. And way too many one shot kills with weapons that take tons of shots to kill someone. Then there were other parts that were just obviously faked. The guy shooting off in a random direction, then someone walking around a corner and right into the shot. I used to play online, then cheats started being used. I was pretty good at Q3, then all of a sudden, I'd join games and I'd be shooting at someone, and all of a sudden I'd be dead. I'd spawn, run 5 feet and I'd be dead again. This is what has stopped me from playing online.

Yes, I hate cheaters.
I never run across any though in Quake III or Unreal.
I use to get them all the time in the old Jedi Knight II and it's add on pack "Mysteries of the Sith" that came out about 4 to 5 years ago.

Drew on the forum here and I would be playing online, and we'd see these cheaters walking around in the air when they should be falling off the ledge and die.

All I do is give them a hearty F*&^ You, and I leave the game.

But I have not ran across cheaters in a long time.

Also I host a lot of my own games on my PC, and friends call me up on the tele, and it's just us playing and several bots in the game.

Saturday night Jim (mytruck on the forum) and I played Unreal for about 90 minutes.
I was on blue with 4 bots, he was on red with 4 bots.
We had a blast.

Nothing like having broadband and a telephone with a headset on it so you can talk & play at the same time.

Once I get my laptop back up to speed I should be down for a game. Right now something is not right. It seems fast. Until I work with large files, play a game, or burn a CD.

UT 2004 was to be out last month, but it's been pushed to February now.
That is the next game on my list.

It may not run well on my PC.
Valve who writes the game is in bed with ATI video cards, and I read a few articles how it won't run on an NVIDIA based chipset video card very well.

NVIDIA is very pissed off, and demanding that they re-write the code so it will work on both ATI and NVIDIA cards.

Valve is not "in bed" with ATI. ATI just followed the DX9 spec to the letter, whereas Nvidia did not. Since the Source Engine for HL2 is FULLY DX9 compliant, and Nvidia's CURRENT DX9 class cards aren't, they have poor performance when running HL2 using the full DX9 path.

However, there is some special coding built into HL2 to take advantage of Nvidia's architecture. Even still, their current cards have trouble with the game. There's tons of information about this on the web.

And FWIW, there's WAY more games optimized specifically to run on Nvidia cards. In fact, most game devleopers don't test their games on ATI hardware. So, to me it seems poetic that Nividia are having problems with one of the most highly anticipated games of all time, especially after some of the questionable stuff they've been caught doing lately.
