UFC Ultimate Fighter: Season 3

I thought it would be intersting to discuss the new season of the Ultimate Fighter with you guys.

For anyone who hasn't seen or heard of the show before, it's a reality show where the contestants have to fight to stay in the show. This season is Middleweights and Heavyweights.

The show tonight is on Spike TV at 10pm PST and there is a 1-hour UFC special on before that.

I'm predicting that the deaf guy, Matt, is going to be the Ultimate Fighter for the Light-Heavyweights. The guy seems to me that he wants to win the series the most and has a LOT of heart.

Tito is really impressing me with his coaching skills. I mean, he asked Matt how he got through wrestling and got a translator for Matt

Glad Noah won the Heavyweight fight. The other kid was a real jack@$$ and for all the headgames he was trying to run on Noah, he should remember this defeat.

One of my roommates teaches Brazilian JJ and is gone almost every weekend at these tournaments. He personally knew one of the guys from season 2. Season 3 looks like it'll be a good season. I never liked Ken Shamrock all that much and this show is making me like him less.

I've been watching but I don't know the names that well yet. It looks like a good season.

On a side note, I just wanted to show-off and say that I just got invited to UFC at the Staples Center. The tickets are 8 rows up dead center. I believe these tickets are $800 a pop. Can't wait till 5/27...

That was an awesome win for Noah. He was on the defensive from the get-go and once Jesse overcommited he took advantage and sunk in the arm bar. All on a sprained ankle.

There's an MMA fight next weekend right across the border. I can get tickets to that for $20. Anybody else want to go? I'm just going for the fight and coming straight back.

Is anyone familiar with Bobby "the bad seed" Hoffman? Don't know which organization he is with now or if he is still fighting.

I got some good Bob Hoffman stories. He is from my hometown, crazy dude.

Didn't he spend some time in jail for allegedly beating his girlfriend or wife? I think he had a substance abuse problem too...

Yes and yes.

He's not the sharpest tool in the shed. I remember this one time when I was in high school and me and my buddies were working out for football season. He was back in town and being the ex-football player that he was wanted to train with us.

He was always bossing us around, and he wanted us to line up for stretch on the field, he screamed "LINE UP IN TWO LINES"..."I SAID TWO LINES....ONE, TWO CAN'T YOU READ!!!!!"

we were like wtf

He was a tremendous high school football player, his issue was grades. Went the JUCO route and ended up at Akron.

Stories of him beating guys up in high school border on mythology.

I've seen a few of his fights when he was really heavy...he then toned down some, won a few and it looked for a while that he was taking it seriously.... only to fade again

Was he with a guy named Joe Sales (manager, trainer)?

He came back to my hometown about 7 years ago and sponsored an MMA event locally. They held it out at the armory. Half of the people who were supposed to fight didn't show up, they got guys out of the crowd to sign a release and fight...it was crazy.

Looks like he'll really be watching with some intensity next week, should be a great fight between him and Matt.
