Today, I feel very blessed

Yesterday I went to visit a friend in the hospital. She was having here knee reconstructed.
It was pouring down rain as I was leaving, I mean POURING, so I thought I would wait a minute before dashing to my truck. I noticed a guy out in the rain in the courtyard area with his head in his hands. Truth be told, I did stare a little bit, but only because it was raining so hard, and who'd want to be out in it. Well the rain wasn't letting up so I just decided to go for it. I was kind of looking out of the corner of my eye at him as I passed, when I heard him sobbing. Normally, I'm the kind of guy who would just keep walking, after all it is a hospital and a lot of bad situations end up there. Right? For some reason though, I stopped and went over and asked "Whatcha doin' out in this rain?" I know it was a stupid question but......anyway, he just looks up at me and says' "They said I've got complete kidney failure. Two weeks ago my tests were fine." Has a big burly guy, 35. Well anyway I sat and talked with him a bit, prayed for him and his family. He was waiting for his wife to come pick him up. She didn't know yet, and they have 4 kids. I was just thinking about how it could be any of us, and what that would do to you. Not just, Am I going to die? But how am I going to take care of my family. Anyway I'm just rambling, and it's really been on my mind today. So if you're healthy.....you should be thankful. Now go hug you're wife and kids, or your husband or whatever.

I know exactly how you feel. I lost my first wife to a very sudden illness. Had to make the decision to take her off life support and than tell the girls mom wasn't coming home. Reality hit home fast as I became a single dad. Thanks to the help of family and lots of prayer life went on.
Enjoy those around you and never take any one or anything for granted because you never know....

I think your situation was worse Oc. It's one thing to deal with your own illness but it's quite another thing to deal with the illness and or the eventual death of a loved one. If I lost my wife.........I just don't know how I could carry on. I have 9 year old daughter who lost her biological father 5 years ago so for her...... Well I know how er who got you through it and I know He'd do the same for me. I just hope that never happens.
