Your 4r is my favorite color. I wish they never stopped in 98. The winter is coming and an Aero will not get you through the snow. I think if you want a commuter, then get a cheap beater and keep the 4r. you will need it. Hope that helps

You will most likely lose your ass on the 4runner becuase of all the mods. Take the money that you would lose, may be 2G and drop it in a little beater truck. Drive it for a while and decide whether or not you still want to sell the runner. I have an '02 sport but my daily driver is an '89 2wd toyo 4 banger.

dont sell it. as others have said, the math porbably won't work in your favor.
you'd be better off taking those big meats off your 4runner and buying more gas efficient 32s that are for the street (i.e. no 32" MTRs )bob |

i hate the micheline ltx's that were on my 4runner when i bought it. if he does significant highway driving downsizing in tires probably won't help him too much, if he is mostly around the town it could help but the added zippiness of the blower and smaller tires will probably produce some stoplight fun.
instead, try altering your driving style. I slowed down from 75-80 on the highway to 65-70 and have notices an increase in mileage on this tank also, try not stab it leaving the stoplights. right now is really a buyer's market for trucks/suvs. everyone is dumping them for dirt so they can get a more fuel efficient "small" car. a friend of mine just traded in his 8-month old FX4 F-150 crew cab 4x4 that was nearly $40,000, he got $25,000 in trade for it. he ended up with a slightly used crewcab nismo frontier that may get 5mpg better (that is optimistic) yet he lost $15,000 in 8-months on the last truck. It will take him the rest of his life to make up for the difference in gas prices. |

how about taking off the supercharger? would that alter the mileage? i would never even think about selling a 4rnr like yours. way too nice. worse comes to worse park it and try city transit. at least youll know you have a 4rnr at home. instead of driving the suzuki and wishing you had a 4rnr.

I feel your pain, I just put a set of "street tires" on my rig. I garaged my 33x12.5 mts and put on a set of michelin ltx's and wheels I bought used. should get back up to 18/19 mpg. but boy does my truck look weak now!
nope, not gonna take pictures

actaully i would like to see what that looks like, as im thinking about doing the same thing to my yota. i'm curious to see what my truck would look like with the lift and smaller tires than the 33's.

I'm feeling better today. Thanks folks. I know I would regret selling my rig since I have so much time and effort into making it just what I want.
My milage actually went up with the supercharger. I'd get 22 on the highway no problem. Now, with the lift and all terrain tires I'm getting 19 on the highway and around 15 in town. My commute to work is 10 miles on a winding mountain road so the speed never gets above 40mph. For the past three weeks I have been commuting to work on the motorbike which gets about 50 miles per gallon. But then I wonder why I have this nice 4Runner sitting in the garage. Life is full of choices I suppose. Come winter, the 4Runner will get me to work and to the ski slopes. I just did a wash/wax/detail with Griots so I'll post some pictures later in the week with a clean runner and the new body lift. ![]()
