He was the first comedian that I saw on HBO, He was dirty but oh so helarious.

I can't think of another "progressive" comedian with better expression and timing than Richard Prior. He and George Carlin created a new genre of raunch, pushing the envelope and spawning a slew of imitators like Eddie Murphy, Damon Wayans and Chris Rock. He even managed to make off-color jokes about his debilitating fight with MS. Like Dudley Moore before him, he was taken too soon. RIP Richard.

For all the susbstance abuse he endured during the most part of his life I think he was lucky to see his 60s.
