Recommend me a battery: Optima, odyssey, etc

It looks like my Toyota true start battery in my Celica is not going to make it through the winter. I posted a topic on alltrac.net and they gave me some recommendations on what kind of battery to get. Most said optima. But there are a couple of very small and light batteries out there that I need feedback on.

Has anyone used:
Oddysey batteries? http://www.odysseybatteries.com/auto.htm#bcigroup
Braille Batteries?http://www.imprezawrxsti.com/postnuk...ewtopic&t=8018

I like Optima. I've purchased a few and they've been really good to me. I don't think you could go wrong with an Optima.

Red top Optima. Costco seems to have the best deal.

ya costco has blems for 25 % to 50% off retail,
minor scrapes or minor cracks in the case that don't effect the battery it's just cosmetic

Do you have any proof for this statement? Not trying to question your judgment or anything, but my dad works for Costco, we have been customers there for well over 10 years, and I have never heard of this. Please explain where you got this info...

Again, I am just asking, not trying to be a jerk.

I have had both the Odysseys and the Optimas.

Here in "Hot AZ" the optimas only last ~4 years. Gone through 4 of them already and on three different cars.

BUT The Optimas are cheaper by far than the Odysseys

I bought the Odysseys (qty 2 of the 1200 series) for the 4Runner so that I could put two of the 1200s side by side on a dual battery wire-up in the modified factory battery tray, so that if one goes bad (or drains) when Im out in the boonies by myself, Ill still be able to start up and get home. Size was the primary factor in me buying them.

Havent gotten around to putting them in the 4Runner yet... but
I ran one of them in the Challenger for a week or so, till I got a replacement for it, and it was a good strong battery (in warm AZ)

I bought my Optima online from a place in Nebraska and it was the cheapest around. It took a while for the battery to show up but I saved over 50$.

Again, I am just asking, not trying to be a jerk.

go there & ask if they have any blems,
they will discount most items that sustain damage.
my buddy bought one & told me , so i got one discounted.

i bought a golf bag & took it back because of some discoloration.

they gave me the option of returning it, trading it or getting 30% off,
i took the 30% off

call or go there & find out yourself, maybe there different state to state
but i doubt it.

Here is the address. Good luck, it took me over 2 months to get my battery. If you need and adapter, they are going to charge you 10-15$ I have a spare you can have. PM me so you can get it.

I have always purchased a off brand for around 30 - 40 and have never had a problem with them.

I might add that I normally park outside and its not uncommon to get to 30 below a number of times per winter.

Personally I think its all advertising hype.

another question, With the strict EPA here in the USA and the materials used in constructing batteries, How many differant manufactures do you really think build them??

Same goes for tires and flourescent lamps.

Differant name = advertising = higher cost for all of us.
