Painting Techniques? Help

I want to paint, fenders, accessories...what ever I could paint. I have a paint gun. But i dont know very much about mixing colors. or about laquors, oil based...latex based...whats the difference? Paint thinners with paint to get the right thickness or color,or where to get paint. If anyone could provide assistance, with info..or where i could get info I would be greatly appreciative in advance.

Thank you!

Ive used quite a few ppg products before. Its one of the best, I think anyway. I used to use Martin Senour paints, it was also good just a little more expensive than ppg. Youll just have to shop around and c who caries what. Most of the time your gonna either use an enamal or a base coat/clear coat system. Enamel is deff. cheaper. If your gonna do any real work youll wanna use a hvlp gun. Hope your ready to spend some cash becuase it takes quite abit of practice/products to get a decent finish. Deff. harder than it looks. Check out eastwood theyve got a few books on refinish work.

High Volume Low Pressure - Reduces overspray and airborne paint resulting in a better finish and more paint on the piece.

Find a local paint and body supply. I know of one around here, either that or I don't think it would hurt to ask some body shops in the area where a good place to go would be. I mentioned something about where I was getting my stuff at the body shop here in town and the owner told me if I ever needed anything that he could get it for me cheaper than anyone else.

Try to use one brand when painting, primer to basecoat clear. I've heard that its always a good idea. I'm too tired to come up with anything else. If I think of anything else I'll post it up.
