Non-Turbo Supra question

How hard would it be to swap in the TT motor, or make the non-turbo into turbo? I don't know too much about turbos...

thanks-

I don't think it's hard - just takes time and money. Over on Lextreme, there are folks swapping and turbocharging (x1 or x2) the Lexus 1UZ or 3UZ. The V8 solves the low end deficiency on Supras they say.

They say, its easier, and cheaper, to sell your NA for a TT than swap out hte 2JZ-GE to a 2JZ-GTE. You hav ehte motor, transmission, rear end, ECU, just for the swap alone, and thats not mentioning the other perks hte TT has such as the bigger brakes.

However, you can build hte 2JZ-GE for not too expensive. There are plenty of N/A-T kits out there, and with enough work you'll be flying by TTs with the same amount of work in it.

what type of work are we talking about here? I've seen video of a supra get smoked by a ferrari up to 120mph or so then the turbo's really hit their powerband and the supra owns him after that....

Swap in a GTE block (bolts right up, no modifications needed; if youre lucky youll get a block thatll hold 800+ fromt he factory), and get a N/A-T kit from any one of the major tuners, Powerhouse Racing, Toyomoto, Peter Farrel Supercars, MVP Motorsports, Wide Open Throttle Motorsports, Titan Motorsports, etc etc. Obviously how much power you make depends on how deep your pockets are.
