Non-ipod music device

What to suggest? I'd like to be able to hold all my music (30+ GB) and hook up to car audio easily (RCA cables or better)

I'm at work, so no I didn't search.

Oh, and as for portability, it's not a big issue because i'd be using it in my truck more than anything else.

Next best thing is probably gonna be something from Creative. Or if you wanna wait a while, Microsoft is coming out with their iPod killer sometime soon.

Toshiba Gigabeat. It even comes with a cradle that I've mounted in my truck. The cradle has a "line out" jack that allows you to run a mini-plug to RCA cable to the back of your HU. It sounds as good as a CD in the player.

I picked my Gigabeat up on Woot for $185 shipped. $0 gig capacity and the ability to store photos. You can also connect your digicam to the Gigabeat and download all your photos. I particularly like that feature since I'm prone to losing those tiny xD cards.

I remember seeing that now! I change my recommendation. That looks like a sweet player, and from your description, it probably is.

My Dell Jukebox has better battery life and features than my 2 iPods, and it cost half as much. iPod is the buzz, and iTunes is hella cool, but for the money there are better products out there.

Simply stated, I've had an Ipod for the last 2 years. Gone through 3 of them all due to HD failures, thankfully under warrenty.

A laptop isn't too bad of an idea considering I'm going to start venturing into the "expedition" realm with my truck soon. It just depends on how much and the ease of hooking it up to my truck, as well as changing songs, playlists, etc.

I'll have to do some searching for that thread (if I can even find it, damn search) but thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming!

Looks nice, but does it have a line out connection? The reason I ask is because the head phone jack sends out power (for the headphones) as you turn the volume up, and when connected to a tape deck via a connector, you get horrid static if you turn the volume up on the player.

I like the looks of it, but seems to be tied to windows media player a bit more than I'd like.

You can either use Window MP10 or the supplied Gigabeat Room. Gigabeat Room takes some getting used to, but otherwise I've had no problems with it.
