Nikon Digital Camera Bodies...
Thinking about picking up a Nikon Digital Camera Body... It'll complement my current Nikon Lenses that I already own so Canon is definitely out of the question.
I'm debating between the D1 series.. The D2H is abit out of my league $$ wise so I'm pretty much forced to choose between the D100, D1X, D1H. Right now I'm leaning towards the D100 just because it's the most economical.... The D2H is nice though ![]() Anyone want to give me some pointed and some feedback? Thanks ofcourse

If you already have the nikon glass, you should definitely wait for the D70 to come out. The body is listed as $999, and it seems to have some more features than even the D100. There is a conference this week (PMA) where Nikon will be announcing this camera. Click here for more information.

I buddy of mine shoots with a D100 and it is a very nice camera. I have been impressed with the quality of his shots. However, my only reference to digital photos is my small canon digital elf so take that for what it is worth.
I would consider the D100 and maybe a move to digital if it felt sturdier. I thought it felt very plasticy (not a word, but I think you know what I mean). I mainly shoot with a F100 and an older N70. I would like a digital that felt as sturdy as my F100. I think that puts you into the pro line of Nikons and I can't justify the price at that point. Don't know if that helps or not. If you don't shoot with a metal bodied Nikon, you probably wouldn't notice the difference.

i'm a nikon person too. i have the D100. very often i think it's the smallest things that makes one chose one camera over another. even though there are so many custom menus etc., i very seldom use them and probably only remember them from reading the book the very first time i got the camera. somehow i still prefer to use all my cameras on maunal. what i do especially like about the D100 is the weight and the size of the handgrip. even though i have a smaller palm, i prefer the chunky size as i don't use the neckstrap and generally just walk around with the camera in my hand. the battery lasts forever and ever..... what i don't like is the usb 1. i never use it prefering to take the card out to read. just my $0.02. maybe they'll drop the price of the D100 once the D70 comes out |

I am buying a d100 soon. I have used a freinds and wow, its just like my F100. Go figure huh? Any way the D100 has 6.1 million actual mega pixels while the D1h only has 3.1 on the nikon site you can compare side by side any of their cameras, i would link it but i think its a flash site. |

The more I think about it I really like the D100. Currently I have the N80 w/ the 24-120 and the 80-200. I've read that the controls for the D100 is identical to the N80 as well as the weight and feel so by default I should go w/ the D100 or higher...
The price point really hurts (darn truck mods takin all my $$ away from me!!! hehehe )I guess I'll just have to just dig abit deeper in my back pocket and find the means for the D100. I have been considering the D1X but it's just abit too much $$ for me... The D2 is nice but that will only happen if someone gives me $$$!!!! Thanks for all the inputs!!!

if you shoot sports, the D2H is the thing to get.
8 frames per second and up to 40 jpgs at at the frame buffer my canon 10D can only do 3 FPS and a 9 frame buffer... while th D2H _only_ has 4 MP capabilities, the mag article i read didnt come down on nikon that much.

Bah! Nikon!
<---------------Canon 1DS (let's see Nikon touch this one.... and don't start w/ me about that POS 14N) <----------------Canon 1D (ok, ok, ok, so the D2H finally caught up w/ this one...) :-) My vote is for the D2H... but more important than the body is the GLASS.

ok, but seriously, get what you can afford, I don't think you'll go wrong with either the D100 or D2H, as long as you have some decent glass and a keen eye you'll be able to take some fantastic photos. Good Luck! |

I've got a D100. Nice camera. Though admittedly my only point of comparison is my previous Olympus OM1.

Nice. Ive still been waivering. I am liking the D70 now. I think i might trade in my N80 for it. I dunno. I dunno. Im glad you make a choice. Although on ebay new d100s seem to be cheaper than the new d70. I mean all the d70 are kits and i just want a body. post some pics when you get a chance. i dunno why i used that one.

ANALOG WILL BE VICTORIOUS!
Cool Lance. I'll perhaps begin to consider thinking about possibly letting you use a few of my lenses on a future outing... But only to take pictures of me of course. ^_^ |

For me, getting the D100 was a logical choice and a financial choice I have the N80 so functionally the D100 is the same. This way it's easier for me to switch over w/o relearning all the buttons n stuff (not that it's all that difference but still!).Anyway, I have an assortment of lenses so hopefully I'll be able to go crazy w/ the digital now that I don't have to think twice about running out of film ![]() I'll be able to really test this out on my trip to Alaska so wish me luck! I'll be taking my other can for slide stuff so I'll be able to do some comparisons then! Ofcourse I'll bring it to Pismo to take pix of all of ya! ilion if ya go then, I'll definitely take pix of you w/ your lens!
