New fangled "Blue" and "white" HID lights SUCK HUGE
I was cluttering up another thread, but am irritated enough to start a new thread, though it is of zero tech value, so it goes in OT.
As the title says, any car with the new crap headlights blinds me on the road. I implore all members here, should you get the urge to either buy a car with them, or convert your current car to them, RESIST! RESIST! RESIST! My current feeling of justice for those who drive with said lights, is to mount a pair of those HUGE lighforce lights both on my front bumper, facing directly into oncomming traffic, and a pair on the roof, aimed directly into the windshield of the car behind me. When a blazing set of blue headlights gets behind me, or is coming at me, i'll just flip on the million candle power beams and give them a taste of their own medicine. It is just bloody ridiculous. Why the laws in our states allow this bull pucky is beyond me. I've written two letters to my congressman about it, but realize that no congressman is dumb enough to go against the auto lobby. Good way to vent though.

I assumed they came OEM. I can't imagine too many beamer owners swapping out kits. Probably a few, but not all of them.

There is a large problem with the OEM HIDs because they are so much brighter than the old style halogens they have to be aimed perfectly. Sadly it has been my experiance in talking with some mechanics that they don't know how to perform this simple task anymore. They say "the factory set them up already" or something to that effect... (head shake) yeah sure...
Another issue is co-related to the aiming is that when the aiming job is done most vehicles are empty [or next thing to it] as soon as you load up the car with people and/or the trunk with junk [audio gear, luggage, whatever] you change the aim of the head lights [because you change the 'stance" of the vehicle] (the oldsmobile version of the Blazer had HIDs a few years ago and added air bag suspension in part to help keep the vehicle level to avoid this problem). Other high end cars use a "smart" system to have the lights constantly adjust to "peep" around corners and so on these systems probably go out of 'trim" pretty often IMO [murphy's law right?]. If you do do an HID conversion [or even if replacing reg. lights] make sure the vehicle has a full tank of gas and one person in the drivers seat at a minimum. [this from the FSM section on aiming lights] myself for even greater accuracy I would make sure the vehicle also had a "medium" load on [ie half of the most you would ever carry] like a week's worth of groceries and one kid in back or something like that. But that is just me... Hope this helped a bit...

I'd just hit them with these babys
Those are Warn driving HIDS. Lol no I wouldn't do that, there's a good chance if I turned those things on in traffic some1 would hit me. I don't mind the HIDs so much as those big stupid Chevys/Fords that don't adjust their lights after lifting they're truck a foot. ![]() p.s. No I wasn't trying to make my truck look like it was smiling in that picture, but it's kinda funny.

Just watch for the po-po since they will ticket people for flashing other drivers with their off road lights since you are endangering the person more than his lights are bothering you. My friend got a $200 ticket for flashing a driver with his million candle power lights with the cop right behind him. The ticket was something like aggravated endangerment and can be considered a road rage incident.
Yes,they are bright (but not enough it bugs me) and should be properly aimed but get used to it since we aren't going back to older dimmer lights. I remember people in the '80s complaining about the "new" Halogens being too bright.

if someones behind me with those HIDS, i flip my mirror so i dont have to see them. if they flash me, i slow down and wait for them to get in front of me, then flash them with my KCs and my highbeams. stupid people, i hate most people who drive beemers, most of em are stuck up and rude, but i agree there are some cool ones, like the ones on here. and Joe, that truck was designed from the factory to be smiling.
. god i cant wait until i get more lights mounted on the bumper to get revenge on people whos car is immune to the KCs due to height. or, LOW height, to be exact.

What they have to do is put a limit on how high the lights on a vehicle are from the ground.
That would solve the problem of these hillbillies stopping behind me on my bumper with their lights directly in the path of my mirrors. Also, a limit on the strength of lights should be created to a maximum distance of 500ft for high beams, and low beams should be at about 300ft. This rule should be enforced with fines from our folks in blue. It is a danger to the motoring public, even if they help the driver of the offending vehicle see a wee bit better.
