Need help with Word/Excel Plzz

So im in a Astronomy Lab class this year. We got a lab sheet with abunch of problems to solve. The teach said we had to re-type the problems with the answers beside them and turn it in all nice and neat. Only problem is I wasnt paying attention on how to do it because I thought I could just figure it out. I thought wrong. Does anyone know how to get the math symbols like the square root image or make a number an exponent in Word or Excel? I really hope someone does or im SOL.

Thanx before hand guys,

-Stu

P.S. (Do I change my oil at 3000mi. or go with the 5000mi.?)
