![]() Some of the older members around here will remember this picture that I took while standing directly between my tent and that of JefftheMarmot during the 2002 CO4RJ in Ouray. Bears dig me. I just got this thing so it will take some time for me to get used to how to best use it. As I stated earlier... Regarding cold weather; Some experimentation is being done with the foam/foil truck windshield sunshade things you can buy at AutoZone. The foil is the same as Emergency Spaceblanket material and the foam backing is closed cell, about 1/8th inch thick. This with two fleece blankets might eliminate the need for a sleeping bag alltogether. In the meantime i'll use my Kelty Cayenne +5 degree bag. Is there an echo in here? Suffocating?!?! Please!! You people make me laugh with your refusal to accept that something new might be better than what you are all used to. Do you suffocate inside your current tent? This is the same material, just a different shape. ![]() The Jury hasn't heard the case yet, please withhold judgment untill all the evidence has been discovered. looks interesting, I usually like to sleep on my stomach so I dunno if I could handle it.
Someone mentioned cold air circulating, it doesnt really matter, cold ground cold air since your body heat wont heat up the ground it doesnt matter...just need plenty of insulation like a good sleeping bag....

I camp a LOT, and personally have seen lots of people sleep in hammocks! I always thought they looked super comfy!
I dig it dude! I still love my Marmot Equinox though, but that has to be SUCH a space saver! yeah I was in 5* nights with my bag just DRAPED over me, and laying on my thermarest. that bag is W A R M! |

I'm not knocking tents. There is some quality stuff out there. I'm now a motorcyclist. I ride an ancient 1982 Honda XL250R and plan to ride it on somewhat long distance trips this summer. Every ounce of weight and cubic inch of space ads to the effort I have to put in to get where i'm going. Every minute I spend looking for a suitable flat, level, rock-free and dry campsite is another minute i'm not resting or heading toward the destination.
I'm gearing up for a 1000 mile motorcycle/camping trip in August and everything I bring has to fit on a 23 year old Honda 250. The space/weight thing is the driving force behind the purchase of this hammock. Bring on the rocky slopes, i'll sleep like a baby. , I could sleep on a tennis court or under any remote rural bridge in this thing. When you throw a leg over a 250cc motorcycle and start a 1000 mile journey, your perspective of the comfortable life changes. Now I need a line on a pair of surplus Military Aluminum Mermite insluated food cans that I can turn into cheap waterproof moto-luggage. ![]() -Your friend in Colorado, Matt the Rocky Mountain Hillbilly. |

How about one of those tents that you can hook to the back of your Runner? I wouldn't mind one of those.
