Those are funny Chris! Too bad you didn't get the kitchen set.

My favorite was the second one....that chic almost crumbled when you said you were a woman.

My standard response when I get those calls is to tell them my parents aren't here....they usually can't get off the phone fast enough.

hmmm....those dumb survey phone calls have so much potential to be fubar'd with lol i don't have very good "i'm just gonna mess with you" skills but it'd be funny to hear what some others could come up with too.

I used to tell them to hold, then put the phone in front of speakers with Elevator music coming from them.

Most of the time they hung up, but a few times they would still be there 10 mins later lololol

i love doing that. there is no greater glory than to get one of them to laugh so hard they have to hang up. i enjoy hitting the classics, them"are you interested in a survey?" me"what are you wearing?"

and, them"are you interested in the possible purchase of yada in the near future?" me"well, im kinda short on cash, but ive got like, a mini fridge and a microwave id totally trade for something like that. if it was in good shape and stuff, like quality stuff, yea."

sigh, the good ol days. stupid automated crap now. its lame. lol.

I always ask if i can call them that night when they get home. I would rather talk to them on a "one on one" basis.... they usually hang up

Two ways to do this without getting in legal trouble:
1) As soon as you figure out they're selling, say very clearly "This conversation is being recorded for quality assurance"...........that puts them on notice that the conversation is being recorded.
2) Verify your state's laws on recording calls.

Verify state laws. In Idaho only one party must be aware of the fact that the call is being recorded. If you were doing it here, you would be golden.

All you have to do is say "this call 'may' be recorded" or say "this is a recorded line". That's it if you wish to keep it legit. When I worked in the back office of an investment firm I got those two lines all the time from the banks and trust companies. Their clients are all over the US and they never know where you are calling from.

I had a call for my roommate before.

I told them he was in the hospital, and they promptly stuttered and apologized.

He cracked up laughing because he knew what I was doing.
