He had to take the shot. There is no way that he would have not been seen by the moose and charged. He dodged a bullet on that one. He should have been killed but he got lucky

Something I think I'll never understand. I could never get off on killing a wild animal like that.

Idiot, he took that shot way to late. i woulda let it pass, you dont screw with moose.
I applaud people for bow hunting but your an idiot to try and hunt moose with one. Shoulda used at least a 7.62 nato chambered gun.. As for hunting, some cant understand it-go back 100 years and its all ya had, food wasnt in a store where you could go buy it.. If you aint ever been then you dunno what its like either.. My uncle, (may he R.I.P.) didnt like hunting, he fished and junk. We talked him into it and gave him an old shotgun after we forced him to take it b/c he says he was just gonna watch first time. Left him alone and sure enough 6 deer dead and it sounded like a machine gun going off..too bad he didnt realize they need antlers..not like it matters, was 15 years ago..

While I agree that hunting is a part of life and if I can reason with any type of sport hunter, it will only ever be not using a gun. It's still very sad and I could never do it myself. I once overheard 2 men talking about bear hunting, where they filled a barrel with food, tied it to a tree and waited in the tree til the bear showed up and shot it. It made me sick to my stomach. I think in this situation, the guy IS an a-hole for doing that, he shuda just let it go. Who knows if he woulda been charged? Maybe, maybe not. All we can see in this video is he took that poor animal down at a pathetic distance. No need to be proud of that shot.

I just think these days, with the huge impact of humans on natural ecology, we should allow wild animals to live. Farmed animals is different for me I guess. Of course this impact on humans have created more deer. Deer I don't have a problem with either, but, larger game is sorta sketchy. I donno, I just think these beautiful, large animals shouldn't be hunted.. just my personal opinion. |

Hunting seasons are designed to help control the population of the animals. I do draw the line when it comes to the practices of hunters. As mentioned earlier about the technique of some bear hunters. I am an avid deer hunter and i refuse to use the baiting techniques that many have started using. Each year we take the time to plant fields with wheat, clover, oats, and my special blend of ingredients..lol I refuse to go our an pour a bottle of Come-here-deer or Deer Cane over a stump and wait for them. That takes the sport out of it. A moose is about the largest game i would hunt. It would make for an amazing trip and i hear the meat is great. We have a few rules on our farm...1. The Buck has to be at least an 8 point..preferably one that is 3+ years of age. 2. Dont shoot it unless you are going to mount it (Bucks). 3. Dont shoot it unless you are going to eat it. Sorry i'll get off the soap box. I just cant stand people who go out and hunt for the wrong reasons. ![]()

But they should be proud of being able to call the moose in that close, positioning themselves so their scent doesn't carry, and staying motionless enough with a bow drawn while standing up to not spook the moose. I'm pretty sure I couldn't do all of that so I give him props.

wow i never thought there would be so many liberal tree hugers on this site wow im amazed. do you know how hard it is to get an animal in that close and what you go through in the process i am an avid hunter and have bow hunted it is amazing when an animal is that close, your heart pounds its hard to control your breathing. and by the way to all you who dont understand bow hunting its not usually ethical to take shots beyond 40 yards. if you dont like hunting to bad cause its not going anywhere its only getting bigger. we had peta come to ND a few years ago only to get run out of town, haha. to sc4runner maybe you should come to ND and see how many dead deer are on the side of the road cause they were hit by cars. theres to many deer the natural predators are long gone. if there wasnt hunting they would over populated and die out in masses hows that for the natural process for ya. its the same with any wild species hunters are the biggest conservationists just look at all the groups, ducks unlimited, pheasents forever, rockymountain elk foundation, and more. and by the way without hunting how would any state or federal wild life service be funded. hunting was here yesterday today and it will be here tommorrow and forever so just deal with it. I think all the big city people just need to figure it out already.
