Miramar Air Show (photos)

Guys,

I had such a blast at the Miramar Air Show in San Diego, CA. My wife and I made a spur of the moment trip down there. To our surprise, my best friend's sister's boyfriend who is a Marine down there ran into us. Since he knew some of the MPs down there, we got front and center seats to the Blue Angels show! Here is the only pic I took that turned out good from that show:

The best part of the show was the hardware, land and air, on the flight deck. Almost every imaginable plane in US inventory was out there except for A-10s and B-52s which I imagine are being used to drop ordinance on the Taliban.

I took about a 100 pics pics that day but in the interest of time, here are some the best ones on this index page:

The Stealth fighter was under armed security. The "business end" of the Apache gun was pretty cool too. I think the coolest one was the B-17. Check out this rear view of the B-17. You can see the huge rivets they used to panel this beatiful aircraft.

God bless the USA,
Bob

Guys,

Yeah, it was a good time. I have some pics of me holding some cool weaponry too. M16 w/ a 40mm grenade launcher, a Stinger, a M60 machine gun, and a Remington sniper rifle. I was trying to look all bad ass like Rambo holding that M60 but in reality, that thing made me strain just cradling it!

when i was in the army i had to attend a course sponsored by special forces so that i could train my soldiers and we (each person) had to take with 1 m9 9mm beretta, 1 m16with m203 grenade lancher (40mm), 1 m249 machine gun ,1 m60 machine gun, and every 2 people took a mk19 40 mm grenade machine gun.
and all the equipment for each weapon........ one long week! the SF guys were actualy teaching us to fire in all positions even vehical mounted weapons (but truly fun) so think about the m60 with about 20lbs more (with ammo) just standing there shooting at little siloetts in the distant vally....... Baumholder Germany 1999.......
