mechanics in the Orange County, CA area

I'm looking for a good mechanic to check on a vehicle I'm considering purchasing.

I'd like to have it checked out this weekend (saturday) so it's gotta be open on saturday. Also the car's located in Garden Grove so anywhere in that area would be great.

I just need to do the basic inspection (engine compression etc etc) the usual stuff so it doesn't have to be a 5 star place. Just a place for me to make sure the car i'm considering is in decent running condition instead of something ugly.

Thanks!

Lance, I had my LC checked out at a AAA inspection location cost $70. So far the mechanic that looked at my FJ caught about 95% of the stuff that needed fixing.

cool I figured as much that it'll cost around 75ish. I did look into the AAA one too but figured I'd ask anyone that might have a mechanic that they like used. This way I can send my one time business that way

The other one I've found was CarChex (www.carchex.com) which does the same services.

So are you going to get the FJ V8 conversion?

well I'm considering that option still debating since it's been recently painted so I'm not sure what lurks underneath. I know the rust is coming thru on the rear so most likely the rear will have to get replaced.

so debating on what else is wrong, it's all up in the air. ofcourse if the owner sells it for less than what he wants then I'm all over it regardless of the condition of the rust

Well, Meghan's Uncle's own Gail's Speedometer in Costa Mesa, but they aren't open Saturdays.

Any weekday I could call and ask them if they would take a look for you. If you want you can give me a list of the things you want checked and I'm sure they'd be pretty reasonable.

Regardless though, if you do need something done and don't mind the mini marathon drive from Chino, you could always bring it to them and get good work done.

However it ends up good luck.

Wow... I'm impressed!
Want to toss any $$ into the "help Peter fix his ailing 1st gen" fund?

Good luck with that, it'll be awesome to see what you'll do to it

As far as sleeping... yeah, maybe in a bit
