Angry Loosing web connection to Yotatech

In the last few days I have problems getting to yotatech.com.
It's becoming fustrating.

Here's a network picture of how things are working (or not)
click me

The problem isn't the network between yotatech.com and my PC but, a service or application not working well on the yotatech.com server.

In OSI terms it would be a session / pressentation / application layer fault or DOD 4-layers it would be an application fault.

FWIW, I've had a similar problem. I think we're both on Comcast, but it doesn't sound like it's an issue? A router reset helped, but the glitch returned intermittently.

I am on Comcast as well.
I know they are adding more IPs, as before I only had the 12. range.
Now I can force a 12, 24, or even a 67 # if I want to.
They are doing some work.

Soon we will have 3.0 up from the 1.8 I now have.

It's not comcast. The ICMP ping checks out fine to yotatech.com

The problem is yotatech is not returning SYN/ACK's to my TCP SYN packets. In short it's an application problem with yotatech within the confines of yotatech.com Linux server.

My proof was the network capture when I could send and receive ICMP packets fine put wasn't receiving TCP packets from yotatech.com.

I am a professional network @sshole. I mean this in a nice way.

One thing I have learned when I use forums, and I don't mean just here.

After you type out your reply, new post, ect...
Swipe all the text and copy it to your clipboard.
You never know when a server will decide to take a breather for a minute or longer.

I have lost many a post in the past, and it always seems to be the long ones I typed out.

Takes just an extra second or two to copy the text so you will have it in case of a mishap.

True Corey true.

If there are 20 people doing searches at the same time it would slow the server down. What cracks me up in this case is the quickness that yotatech server responds to ICMP pings when there is a loss of web connection (port 80).

The problem is more than comcast. I hope its found soon.

The server has got a good Linux kernel 2.4-2.5 so issues there.

I think its matter of tracking it down. Maybe its Apache or a child process associated with Apache. Here's a security alert regarding Apache servers that also run PHP like yotatech

I know Scott is looking into it.
Remember we have slowed down in the past a few times, and I could hardly get on.
It was our database, and it had to be taken off line, and when it's down, you can no longer use the search feature of view new posts feature.

Also now you DO have to wait a bit in between searches.
At one time I had it set so you could do another search right after one you just did, but now there is a delay so it doesn't tax the server as much.
At any given time of day, we have a ton of people on here, so we are going to be pushing that CPU

Since we switched host a few months back though, we are a heck of a lot faster here when it's working the way it's suppose to.
I really enjoy the speed of my personal site opening up so fast since my site is on the same box.

Thanks for the post.

Comcast isn't a problem (yet).

You ever taking IE and entered

192.168.100.1

I see you have an interest in this stuff...but there is more to the web than the web server. Are you sure there isn't a router somewhere in there futzing up things for you?

Thanks for noticing my interest Jruz *laf*

I have already trouble shot the network down to yotatech.com server. Using various TCP techniques:

Using NMAP port 80 connection to Yotatech.com Linux server TCP/IP stack (no problem EVER)

Using Ethereal to monitor TCP SYN packets from my network.
No TCP ACK packets from Yotatech.com

Using Ethereal to monitor ICMP Echo (ping) to Yotatech.com (no problem EVER)

Other than the NMAP all the other information is posted on top of the thread in a *.jpg snap shot of ethereal when I was executing the TCP and ICMP echo tests.

Back away from the keyboard and stop smelling the glue cause I have done my home work.

It's working fine on my end with Comcast.
Pages are snapping open as fast as they did when we first switched to the new server a few months back.

l33t ..

You know if you gripe enough something will be done.

As of 10:01 everything works much much better. Don't know what happened, yet, but, this forum has got wings. I am getting .037 second response time.

I do recommend not using Windows Time service .... it can up a TCP session faster than a teamster driving a Cat D-9 down Federal Way (Seattle).

amusement,

MOVE!!!!!

seriously man, nobody is ignoring you and the money raised is not buying any admins and mods here any "goodies". while i personally dont handle any server/db issues (no clue about that stuff), we do bust our asses making sure things are taken care of.

if you want to take the time and write a troubleshooting document, that might help and i could pass it along, cool?

now go git yo' self a beer!

I provided explanations and network packet sniffs. I even have been called an l33t by yotatech member. It was a compliment.

I will say this:

Bob "that's nice".

Did I ever tell you the story about me going to charm school?"

It goes something like this.

Everyday at work someone would say "it's not my problem; it must be your problem". No facts provided. Just opinions.

I would reflect a moment and reply you.

This reply didn't go over very well.

So I was sent to charm school.

In charm school I was taught to be courteous, sit up straight and smile. The last thing they taught me was...

Rather than say " you" I would say "that's nice."

It's worked so far.

Bob, is that a self portait. That's nice too

amusement,

thanks for the explanation of your life's attitude. it's not the first time i have been told to f-off...water off a duck's back.

euphamism aside, corey did say he was going to take care of it. furthermore, they do not work for you or off your timeline.

have a nice night.
