Is it your first time there?
If it is, then you gotta hit up the strip. Go to Bellagio, TI, Ceasers, Paris, etc. You can waste a few days going through those casinos.

Wow... that all depends on what you like to do and what you wanna spend!
You can...
btw... There are three Hilton properites on the strip. Do you know which one you're at? Which one you're at may limit your want to get around: http://www.vegas.com/map.html Transportation wise... RIDE THE BUS! It's only $5 for a 24 hour pass. The busses are clean, safe and run frequently 24 hours/day. This is a pretty good site for info btw... http://www.vegas.com/

If this is your first time you should really try to get at least 1 more day of free time. I don't like gambling either, but there's a lot to do there. Just walk down the strip and watch the pseudo-shows like the mirage volcano, bellagio fountains, treasure island show, etc. Catching all those street attractions will take a whole evening by themselves.
Also, walk around all the shops like the Forum at caesars, the shops at bellagio, the venetion, etc. Of course you don't really want to buy anything at those shops because they're mostly highend shops like gucci, but they're cool to walk around in anyway. The Rio has a mini-mardi-gras celebration throughout the day, sans-drunk naked women. The best show by far I've ever seen in Vegas is cirque du solei "O". Cirque du solei mystique is good, but O is better. It costs almost $100 per ticket though. There's a tram which connects various casinos together along the strip so there's no need for a bus or cab there. If you have a rental car, then try to avoid driving down the strip unless you want to do the "stick your head out the sunroof and yell" thing, the strip is usually pretty congested. I forget the name of the street, but there is one which parallels the strip and it's much easier to drive. Oh yeah, I know what you said in the assault weapons thread, but...fully automatic weapons are legal in Nevada and you can go to a range and try it. Who knows, maybe you'll change your mind about them.

Here are a list of CURRENT headliners for that period:
http://www.vegas.com/searchagent/eve...=ALL&x=19&y=13 Not much really. Check back there often though. It's very likely to change between now and 10/21. And good tickets to good shows go fast. Other than that, "O" is probably the best show there. Mystere is another great Cirque show as is Zumanity. (Warning: Zumanity is an erotic show that many might get offended at.) Blue Man Group is excellent too. If you like magic, Lance Burton and Penn & Teller are very good. Several music acts - including that lady who sang that song in Titanic (sorry, drawing a blank). If you like to shop and buy stuff, there's a ton of that in Vegas. A Bass Pro should be there sometime in the fall - maybe by the time you get there. Personally, I find the inside of the casinos boring and nearly identical.

I disagree on the mere basis that
A new city ordinance has been put into effect and all casinos and night life have been timed to stop at exactly 10 pm .... They want to make sure that you are not out to late. If you can change your plane flight on Saturday we are having this little event going on.... Its billy's Gun run sponsored by the Vegas Valley 4 Wheelers it is apparently a 2 day run though its saturday and sunday but there are not requirements to spend two days out in the middle of no where............... The tram looked like it was running yesterday I saw one moving but it also costs 3 bucks one way to ride it. Oh yea you can pretty much cover every casino in about 8 hours...... If you just going through looking..... A new show that is a little off key at the NYNY is called Zumanity... I presume you are staying at the hilton hotel that is next door to the Las Vegas Convention Center. Its main attraction is the Star Trek Experience

hmmm...I didn't know the tram was down and I certainly didn't know they charge $3 for it. It's been about a year since I've gone to LV.

If you are a rock climber, then you should check out Red Rocks that's 15min west of town.

Agree with all the above posts for choice of shows. A couple other tips: Although I'm not a big gambler, the character of the casinos changes around 2:00AM-5:00AM when the high rollers emerge. It's worth an all-nighter to wander around an upscale casino and people watch craps, baccarat, blackjack and roulette (my game). The characters are unforgettable, and you might catch a celebrity or two sitting next to you decked out in their evening finery.
Nobody into food here? C'mon, the buffet at Bellagio is simply unbelievable, an around the world cuisine tour, and one of the best values on the strip. Don't miss it.

The upside is that I've met interesting women while waiting. No, they weren't working girls, either.

well guys I leave tommorrow to Vegas.
Thanks for all your input. I think I'm just gonna wander around and see where my feet take me. I will check out the hotel's you guys mentioned. Is the Bellagio the hotel in the movie Oceans 11 ? Ill diffenitaly check that out. Rock climbing would be awesome as I am an avid climber, But I think climbing at night is a little dangerous (Only time I get off) I'd love to go wheeling aswell but cant get any additional time off. Thanks again. see you guys in a couple days. |

the bellagio is the hotel, you should check out the water show thats done every 30 minutes too, that was my favorite part of las vegas, and the volcanoe explosion. you cant beat free entertainment. we stayed at the monte carlo and could watch the water show from the window, but when you get down infront, its played to music, awesome!!!

if you see this
If you see this in time I'm off thursday and wouldn't mind showing you a few of the sights. What time do you go (Thurs night Fri morning)? There's even a couple of easy trails really close to town (@ red rock). Take care.
P.S. I'll send an email in case you've seen this in time. -wynn
