At my job ( I repair computers in the IT dept) we have to call for warranty service when the hinges start getting weak on our machines. It has always been covered with both our Dell's and our Toshibas.

A lot of them now are just sort of these metal pins through metal tubes for lack of a better description, and it's just the pressure of the tube on the poll that keeps them up.
As they wear, the pressure obviously isn't what it had been as the tube gets stretched. We get a lot of jacka$$s at my job that carry their laptops around by the screens instead of holding the base. Very irritating. Bill

I do have those screws, one per side. I might try tightening them to see what happens, but I won't tighten too much so nothing will strip. I've only had this thing for about a year and a half... doesn't seem like they should be worn out just yet. I'm also emailing Dell to see what they can do for me.
