I have a Belkin 10/100 Base-T Ethernet card. I am not really sure how to rank it (since I don't know that much about networking), all I know is that it always works.
Belkin

Word to the wise...if your laptop has room for two PC cards (stacked slot / most come with this setup), you should definitely get a card with a "real port" on it. Don't get one with a dongle that plugs into the card, these get lost/broken very quickly.
(only downfall of the "real port" cards is that they take up both slots) Xircom makes a bunch like this...they call it a RealPort. Intel also does (but they own Xircom). All in all, it is hard to get a bad NIC these days (in terms of brand). Also, do not go with a USB adapter. USB itself is not capable of the full bandwidth of ethernet (for file sharing, etc.). Stick with a PC-Card type of device. Jim |

I agree with Jruz, the cable does seem to be a weak part of the whole setup, mine hasn't broken yet though..
When i was looking the Belkin was the only one I found.

Guys,
I ended up getting a Microsoft ethernet card. It was only $40. The design isn't as good as my previous Xircom Realport combo card, but it works and it was EXTREMELY easy to set up (thank goodness). Thanks for all the advice, folks. Bob |

I'm a networking major, so I had to reply to this thread.
![]() If you need something basic, I'd suggest Netgear, Linksis, or the Belkin. The Xircom is nice if you need something a little more feature filled. Go to www.pricewatch.com and you should be able to find some for around 20 to 25 dollars.
