When you have MSN you can't, but on AOl you can "unsend" your email...that is, if it hasn't been opened it gets deleted.

you can always claim its a spoofed email that YOU didnt send. its really easy to spoof email

In the general 'net scenario, no, but in a corporate world you MIGHT be able to.

Shannon (Funrunner) hinted at this... Some services are "local store" in that when you send an email _within the same domain_ then the email goes from your machine to a server where it waits until the recipient logs on and checks mail.

AOL is like this in that if you're sending from AOL user->AOL user, or many companies are using MS's Exchange Server and that works the same way.

But in general... no, you can't.
