itchin to go 4wheelin!

anyone know some good trails in the williamsburg/toano/new kent area here in va? I've been asking around, but no one seems to know..

I know there's a 4roc group in northern va, but that'd be a looong drive for me. Is there anyone in my area here on YT too?!

There is a decent area to play around at on Ft Eustis, but you'd have to be able to get on base, first. Then follow the signs to the "James River Reserve Fleet." Right before the gate to the JRRV, you will see the Anzio Beach training area. Ths small area (approx 3 acres) is fine for fooling around, just don't get crazy. If you like to go fast or deep, don't go there. If you are fine putting around at a slow pace, the MP's *should* leave you alone. Better check with local base 4x4 owners as to the availability of this spot, as I haven't been there in 2 years.

Other than that, you are stuck with private property in Surry County, Chesapeake or Suffolk. Just get off your butt and make the 3 hour drive to the OBX. Or 2.5 hours the other way to the GWNF. There's not much legal wheeling in Hampton Roads.

I also heard there is a "Pay to Play" spot across the Jamestown Ferry (off of RT 5 I think). Cross the river, turn left on 5, and ask around. IIRC, it was $10 or $20 a day...

theres really nothing that i know of near that area, maybe check over on the VA TTORA website http://forum.ttora-va.com there are a bunch of them near there. there is shoe creek just south of charlottesville, then GWNF in harrisonburg, and also peters mill trail in edinberg. other than that, im not sure. I'd be willing to make the trip to shoe creek to show you the trails, ive been wanting to go back there for a while now.

DRTDEVL,
my neighbor just retired from Ft Eustis, maybe he can still get in there..

haven't been across the ferry in a while, but I know the area you're talking about.. I'll have to go check over there again.. lotsa farm land
as far as OBX, man.. I really do needa make plans to go there, that'd be awesome. just needa get some friends together to go do that,.

runnerboy97,
I'm not familiar with that area, but sounds like you've got some good trails up there.. are there any areas on the shoe creek run that would get the diffs submerged? I needa install extended diff breathers anyway though,.
just need to find me a navigator and I might take u up on that offer

thanks for the input, guys
