Isusu Rodeo Sport??? My girlfriend just bought one....

Hi guys, well my girlfriend of 2 years went on her own today and traded in her VW 1.8T beetle on a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo sport and I want to know what you all think about these things! It really is a nice little truck, 3.2 V6, 5 speed loaded with a large removable sun roof and the entire rear is a convertible... I knew she was looking at Wranglers, but had no idea she was going to buy something. I had been telling her all along that Jeeps were not reliable to look at Yotas, but she wanted a convertible, I even found a Rav4 2 door convertible, I know it would have sucked off road and in the snow but at least it was a Yota!!! What do you think of Isuzu products? It looks solid, has a full frame and rear disk brakes, the original owner just had new Dueler ATs put on and it really does run and ride good I have just never heard any thing good or bad about Isuzu!

I was lookin at a rodeo while i was shopping for suv's, but then my friend slapped some sense in to me and we went around to everyone that had an isuzu and it was the same thing over an over, they are great at the beginning but they go downhill fast. From what we found out by those who owned them was that the first thing to go was the overall integrity of the vehicle, especially the interior. This of course could be just these situations and maybe they didnt take care of the vehicle. None the less, hopefully it runs well and doesnt give her any problems...she should have bought a yota though.

rodeos aren't too bad at all. isuzu builds great drivetrains...the 3.2 engine is a little powerhouse, i think a lot came with dana 44 rear ends with disk brakes

also, you can bolt an R151F behind that motor with duel cases in case she ever gets into rock crawling

Reading some reviews on the Rodeo and I found this quote:
"It isn't nearly as classy as a Jimmy.."

My girlfriend has a 2001 Rodeo LS. Drives great. The only complaint I have is that harsh braking is really weird. If you slam on the brakes, they will give out and go loose for a second, and the steering gets loose, then the brakes are back again. Really scary when you need to stop fast and it won't stop. It's not the ABS.... and I don't really know what it it. Other than that it's great.

Izuzu makes good trucks. The interior is similar to a GM product in quality, which is low. Calmini makes aftermarket stuff.

So is this thing 4x4?

http://www.pureisuzu.com/isuzumain.htm

There is an Izuzu message board at Pirate4x4, check there for tech.

Too bad this is the last year for Izuzu in the USA... She should have bought a Jeep...

I work on them.Well ,on Honda Passports.same thing. The v6 is strong,it will smoke my runner. They have few problems.Suspension is mushy, tire wear is poor and they are not maintainance friendly. And the service manuals logic is from some other planet.

It is basically GM, well part of the GM group anyway, Sold in Europe as an Opel Frontera (in UK as Vauxhall Frontera), all GM brands

I dont care what anyone else says...Isuzu's are bad ASS. I had a 92 Isuzu pickup 2.3 4 banger, 2 bbl carb, 5 speed 2wd and it had over 200K miles when I got rid of it, and it still runs to this day (my grandpa has it) I beat the snot out of that little truck every damn day of the week and it would not stop running.

Isuzu's rock

I know that the TX 4ROC is tight with the tx isusu guys from 4x4 wire. The Rodeo ( He posts as txsoulfly on here) does everything the 4runners do. He has an Ausie locker in the rear and I think its bad ass.

It's nice to know there are stll girls out there with discerning tastes. This is a girl to hang onto. The Isuzu Rodeo Sport is a great play-time vehicle. In Africa and Australia, they are one of the most sought-after back-country vehicles. Hang onto it (and her).
