iPOD shuffle .. I love this thing

Went into bestbuy today, just looking around and I saw this sitting there. I was like hhmmm cool little gadget, then I happened to notice one that had that open box sticker on it. Price $49.99. So I picked it up today. My sister already had the ipod mini. So all the songs were already downloaded. It holds about 120 songs. It's the perfect size, weighs like .02 ounces.

It doesn't have a screen, or some of the other fancy features of the other ipods. But for $50 and my needs it was an awesome buy.

be careful, that little Ipod can lead to an expensive habit. My wife got an Ipod min a few months ago, and a few weeks ago picked up an Imac. Apple stuff works really really well. I bet you love it.

I have a 40G Ipod, which I love. We bought a Shuffle for the wife, but had to return it as it was not recognized when plugged into our computer (PC not Mac). I spent several days trying to trouble shoot it to no avail. After some research I found it is a common problem with the Shuffles. We were bummed, and will probably get a Ipod Mini instead.

I guess that what explains it being an open box item. It worked with our main computer. I have to check my laptop too now.

thanks for the heads up!

I got one with the open box, but I paid 90$ grrrrrr. I love my shuffle, I have a cassete adapter, and hang the shuffle from the mirror, the setup is cool. I use a computer not hooked up to the net for my music, and I had to install new usb ports (2.something) then service pak 2, but the cool thing was, I loaded service pak2 onto the ipod, then to the machine, the machine did not recognize the ipod without sp2, but it did recognize the ipod as a removable drive.
Yeah, talk about an expensive habit, I want the 40GB now

the shuffle is pretty sweet considering it's basically just a jump drive with a headphone jack on it.... still wouldn't mind getting one, it would be great for snowmobiling!

I've always wondered about mp3 players, users, songs, etc in general: can you *really* fill up, say, an iPod Mini 6GB with 1500 songs? I mean, who has 1500 songs that they actually like?!?!

I had a 256mb samsung player and it could hold about 80 songs. i really, REALLY had to search for 80 songs that i liked!

i have 3314 songs on my 20gb Ipod. I went to minimize my music to clear up space on my hard drive. with itunes, it shows when the last time you listened to the song. i've listened to all of mine in the last 2 weeks, and know all the songs on there. i'd add more songs, as i have written down songs that i lost in the transfer that i need to replace along with songs that i have learned to love over the radio. thats about another 300 songs, along with the 200+ cds back in washington st. that i still need to add. i just need to get a external hard drive for my laptop as i only have 845mb left on this.

you might be wondering why all the songs, but when you live your summers traveling around on 4-7 hour bus rides 2x a week, every other week, you learn alot of songs (especially over 7 years of doing this)

Absolutely, music is my life. I have about 6600 songs, and I'm listening to music constantly. Different times, different moods, different genres of music. I couldn't imagine no iTunes or iPod.

On a related note, my hard drive just crashed and I'm having to reimport all of my music. You know how bad it sucks to have to reimport that much music? Back up your data boys and girls.

so after about a month of owning this thing. It quit working on me. I've spent the last two and half hours trying to fix it. All it does is blink alternating green/yellow lights at me.

I've updated the software, deleted old software, reinstall new software, reset the flash memory, blah blah blah ... so tomorrow this POS is going back, I'm kinda pissed now. Why can't they just make things that work. Now I know why I don't buy apple computers.

Gotta love blanket statements.

Error light

If iPod shuffle has an error, the front status light will blink orange and green when you press any button. If you see this, try turning off iPod shuffle, waiting a few seconds, and then turning it back on. If you still see the front status light blink orange and green, it could indicate that you have no songs on your iPod shuffle to play. Use iTunes to add songs to iPod shuffle and make sure the songs you are adding are compatible.

If you still see a blinking orange and green light, use iPod Updater 2005-02-11 or later to Restore iPod shuffle, and then use iTunes to add songs. If you still see orange and green, your iPod shuffle may need service.

My wife bought me a iPod shuffle for my birthday in Feb. I got the arm strap and its great to take to the gym. I don't have to worry about breaking or getting scratches on the screen. Now she wants me to buy her one.

my problem is, is that it doesn't even recognize the iPOD is plugged in. I've tried it on 3 different computers. I went through the entire trouble shooting guide. , I've downloaded that latest update. nothing.

It's a month old, why does a month old ipod need service? I used it for the same purpose you are. It just stopped working one day.

While the RCA lycra I've had for several years is still running strong.

It's an electronic device, sadly not every single one is perfect. You could have just as easily got a lyra that did the same thing. Trying it on multiple computers was a good idea. I know several people with shuffles that have not had the same issues, I think you just got a bad one. My best advice to you is to not purchase "open box" electronics. Who knows what the person did to it before returning it. Good luck.
