Hehe, that I don't find surprising.
I'm normally an I.E. user but I've decided to try Netscape 7 out. Other than 2 glitches and lack of a feature or two, I'm starting to like it much better than I.E. It seems to load faster, bring web pages up faster and I like how it has multiple tabs for browsing multiple web pages within the same program/shell window, instead of opening multiple browser windows for multiple web pages. Overall, still undecided though heh.

I use to be a diehard Netscape fan, but the 4. 7 and above series were laden with bugs such as when you shut the browser down, it would still be running in the background.
A ctrl/alt/delete 3 finger salute would confirm this. I now use IE 5.5 exclusively. Seems the 12,000 plus visitors to my 4Runner site confirm they like IE better also. Here's also a break down of the OS used by folk's 'cruisin' my website. Seems 98 is the winner, same OS I still run. This site tracking thing on the people counter I have is pretty cool.

Yup, Netscape 4.7 not dying off properly happens with it & WinXP as well. They finally fixed that with Netscape 7 it seems.
![]() I've got too much time on my hands these days, I just emailed Netscape to let them know of some browser errors I found. Oh, the exciting life I lead sometimes...

I have always used Netscape. But also use I E 6. I prefer NS7.
Mozilla is a big help to this new upgrade. You can configure easier and a lot more conveniece features. I also use Opera to browse, it is fast and less ads.

Use NS 7.0; avoid IE due to security concerns
Use NS 7 based on Mozilla and Gecko rendering engine.. been very solid and much better performance than NS 6.0 which I avoided due to excessive bloatware..
I refuse to use IE due to long track record of security problems... can't remove it (thanks Bill ) from w2k, but use BlackICE 3.5 to prevent any communications to internet by IE.. Also use BlackICE to prevent Outlook Express from executing (again can't remove)

Ok, I have tried my hardest to give Netscape a chance but I give up. I can't stand it, it has too many little annoying bugs/features.
I'm going back to Internet Explorer again, it's so much better. Netscrape can kiss my hehe

Kewl...you saved me the trouble of DL'n it.
I'll just stick with the 4.77 I have on my PC now since all I use is the web page builder part of it. Corey |

DO NOT install Netscape 7 and DO NOT make it your default browser. It screws up your OS whether or not you uninstall it. Internet Explorer won't automatically ask if it's not the default browser anymore and double-clicking shortcuts will now result in an error. I am right-pissed now.

And there is no way to edit the system to make a 'Net shortcut open up with IE anymore? I will not DL Netscape now for sure. I am very happy with IE after using it for the past few years now. |

You can fix the problem by resetting all of IE's settings. It won't prompt you to be the default browser still, but it will open up the shortcuts properly now... sigh

I will admit I like IE6 even though it isn't very secure its good for general web browsing. Netscape is surprisingly fast on the red hat (7.3) linux install that I did on my older computer so i'll give it a lil credit but i've never used it as a browser and never plan to any time soon. I might try mozilla cause my friend tells me I should.
edit: Mozilla if i remember right is the base for netscape 7 but i'm using mozilla right now and it seems to be an alright browser...

On windows ME under ad & remove programs there is a repair to IE after
you select remove. THe remover will ask you if you want to repair IE.

If you want more info on Mozilla try:http://www.mozilla.org/
For Netscape 7 users you can upgrade from Mozilla 1.01 to 1.1 from Netscape preferences.
