Internet Explorer 6 help needed

Gang,

I'm in need of some IE 6 support. Problems started yesterday.

I'm on a laptop here at home, and I think when Sarah used it at work yesterday, some updates were automatically downloaded and installed. I say this because when I started up the PC yesterday, an auto config. thing opened. Also, now its running IE 6 and it used to be IE 5.

Problem 1. Hotmail will no longer load. It acts like it is loading and does everything it normally would, except when it says "Done", the window is all white.

Problem 2. I have to log in to YT each time, even though I have cookies set to always accept from YT.

Problem 3. When I log in, or when I click "View New Posts", it goes to the search page and holds there. It no longer forwards me. Now I have to click the small print that says "If you no longer wish to wait or if your browser does not automatically forward you, click here".

OK tecchies, whaddya have for me??

EDIT:

I went in to security settings, and enabled just about everything, and I must have hit at least one correct thing because it seems to be working now. I dunno.

Never let a woman touch a man's computer.

My girlfriend: "Well the thing just popped up so I clicked on it and I don't know what it did!" :pat:

If you still have issues, select the "restore defaults" button under the advanced options. That should get you back to a working state.
Also, if it's often that different people use the laptop, you might want to disable the "automatic updating" . You can always go to Microsoft's website and download what you really need. Could save some future headaches.
