How to get a pair of Danner Mtn Lights for half price

I have been looking for some good hiking boots for a long time now. I decided I wanted a pair of Danner boots based on reputation.

Initially I ordered these:

I got them from shoebuy.com and with a discount code I got them shipped for ~$88.

I liked them very much but they didn't fit my foot quite right and they were a little casual for me. I returned them and got a refund. No complaints about the service at shoebuy.com. Free shipping and free return shipping is nice.

I then bought a pair of these from ebay.:

I got them for $75, but I could really tell it was a Chinese made boot and I didn't like them

I sold them and got my money back.

I decided to go for the cadillac and get some Mountain Lights based on reviews on here and other places.

The big problem is the price. $229 at Danner $200 at Bass Pro. Too much $$for me to justify.

I found an online retailer doing a clearance sale. They had one pair left in a size 6 for $79.00

I wear an 11 so this was a problem. I called Danner and asked if they would exchange a 6 for an 11. They said NO PROBLEM.

I bought the size 6, mailed them to Danner and they exchanged it no questions asked. Pretty cool of them if you ask me. They even return ship for free.

After the shipping from original retailer and shipping to Danner they cost me just under $100!

I just wanted to brag about snagging a good deal in my book.

I justify boots this way:

My first GOOD pair of boots were Lowas. I bought 'em 9 years ago and still use them today.

I have another GOOD pair that I bought recently, for $160.00. The way I figure it is, you're hiking. You're on rough terrain, you need max traction. If it's wet and rocky, you don't want to slip. You need lasting comfort and strength.

It's worth spending it IF you have it.
