How to fix this compressor

I have a (pretty new, but still dead) Coleman Powermate 0200406 (it is NOT on google, the one google finds is not it) compressor with a 4-gal tank rated to 140 PSI WP and the compressor runs 95-125 PSI WP. my dad was about to throw it out so i figured i'd take it and see if i could find what was wrong with it and if i could fix it, either part it for onboard air, or just have a compressor around the garage (the compressor is LOUD). anywho, the initial problem seemed to be that it would get up to a certain pressure around 50 psi and stay there and make weird noises. i took the unit apart and got the compressor itself out and took apart the piston and head and found that there is a tony black hard rubber piece on a spring that acts as a one-way valve, allowing air out of the top of the piston and into the tank, but not OUT of the tank. this piece came apart and was letting air by both ways, which would explain why it could get to a certain pressure and sit there. anywho, since im bored tonight and didnt feel like doing homework, i took some pics and drew on them. does anyone have any idea of something i can use to replace this rubber valve or some creative way to fix my problem? thanks!

go to a chemistry lab and find some rubber cork and start cutting? Or perhaps, fashion your own rubber valve pieces out of an old tire or something similar. I'm betting the rubber needs to be a little bit on the soft side.

That's what I would try... Ace Hardware has rubber corks also, so as long as it's big enough to start with, you could cut yourself a new one.

i had an idea to use a pencil eraser right after i posted it. it seems to be the same firmness as the broken rubber so im filing right now. we'll see how it works. if not, good idea on the rubber stoppers etc

Instead of trying to fab it up, call coleman before you do anything. bet they have the part and its a buck at most.

Got any pics of the compressor itself? I find it hard to believe it's nowhere to be found through Google...

i emailed coleman, their offices are closed right now. we'll see what they say. i figure in the mean time the worst this pencil eraser will do is fall apart or get sucked into the cylinder, make weird noises and i turn it off and take it apart again. its not under super huge pressures from the get go. ill go up in pressure very slowly and maybe even take it apart intermittently to check how the eraser is holding up. we'll see.

heres a pic of the front. its taken apart so its not the whole unit.

there are similar ones if you search "coleman powermate inflationmate" but none of this model number it seems

i thought about that but since the small part that broke off fills the hole, its small enough to get sucked through the hole and i dont know if glue/rtv would be strong enough

looks the same, but diff model and smaller tank apparently. but even so, still need that piece.

UPDATE: the pencil eraser cant stand the high temps, it melted and got sucked in and looked like bubble gum in there

I vote for chemistry lab rubber cork, or hardware store cork. it's bound to be more heat resilient. That or a tire.
