horror at Rowher Flats ***NEED HELP***

hey guys my buddy and i really need any kind of help...offroading at rowher flats on saterday and well the brakes went out

COMING DOWN THE ROAD ON THE TOP LEFT AND HALF WAY DOWN THE BRAKES WENT OUT.

I DONT KNOW IF YOU CAN SEE BUT IN THE MIDDLE THE BLKACK SPECH IS THE 4RUNNER

MY BUDDY HAD 2WD FOR 4 YEARS AND FINALLY GOT 4WD LAST MONTH, I TOOK A MONTH TO LIFt AND GET EVERYTHING DONE

we went back on sunday and called a tow truck, when he got there he had to jump in our truck so we could get him there because his tow truck would not make it. he said he had other 4wd fords the did not have a wench but he usually gets people out with just rope but since this truck is about 60-70 yards down and there is not room to move he needed a wench.

i dont think he's going to come through for us and i wanted to see if i can get 2 other people to help with strong wenches that we could hook to the truck, steering is stright and it's ready to go up we just need a pull. the wenching trucks could be hooked to ours to stay secure on the flat ground and not go over board with the 4runner.

WE NEED HELP AND THE TRUCKS OWNER WILL BE OUT THERE TOMORROW TRYING WHAT HE CAN TILL MYSELF AND OTHERS GET OFF OF WORK.

THANKS

Wow That looks like it was a wild ride. Hope your buddy can get some help. Also hope to hear the whole story once it's recovered.

Glad it sounds like everyone walked way okay

not a great story the whole thing basicly sucks. the next day we heard storys from almost everyone about people dieing and rolling their trucks. this place is bad turane and has no forgiveness just cliff's on either side, he got a good 25mph with no brakes before deciding to just turn right for the greenery instead of going over any of the other sides.

Experienced trails for experienced drivers. If you are new to the terrain you should always bring someone who has been there before. Glad you guys got out alive and didn't get killed. Looks like it was a very nice Runner too.

what is 'turane' and what is a 'wench'? lol.

If the truck is 60-70 yards off the trail, you're gonna have trouble dude...because the tow truck likely has no more than 100' of winch line much like any other winch, and it might be pretty hard to get a rig down there and in a stable position to winch that rig out.

Does it still run? Steer?

Hard to tell from the pics, but seems at first glance that up the wash would be the best way out. Looks like steeper sides (and long) to winch or reach either road.

I rolled a Isuzu Trooper once 1-1/2 times. I got towed out, but once on flat ground I just changed a tire and she fired right up. Smoked a lot at first, but then I drove her for about a month with no issues.

Just thinking if yours does run you might be able to help with the winching.

Be sure you pull the plugs and turn it over a few times to make sure the cylinders aren't full of oil. My Isuzu was, but it was on it's side for 4 hours or so.

If I was closer I'd be happy to add a winch to the effort.

That place must have some nasty crap...About a year ago I read a thread on FSB about a guy in his Full Size Bronco going down what looks like the exact same hill. Lost his engine and brakes, went for a ride. Hit a bump, got like 8 feet vertical, landed and snapped the solid D44 front axle, then slid to a stop before flying off the cliff.

Found the link here, might have to go through a few pages to get to all the pictures and the recovery.

http://www.fullsizebronco.com/forum/...t=snapped+axle

Just one picture of some of the damage to the Bronco, look at that flex!

thanks guys i know i spelt things wrong but i dont care this is serious i'm just looking for help no jokes. so we did not try to start it because of the brush that we dont want to catch on fire but i'm sure it will start, drive train is fine, steering is fine. we can get it running to help make winching easier. no holes in the raditor and it's just barley touching the fan, we can pull it out a bit and get that thing starting, it has a locker that will also help when winching, we will take the drivers door off so we can jump out if there any problems. our plan right now is to use the help from calrocks and go to 4wheel parts and buy a big winch ASAP so we can atlease have to of them. the truck is 5200lbs and the incline is a bit rough but can be done.

thanks guys we are glad everyone is ok, the fire dept wont remove it for 2 months at least and if this truck starts a fire we are responsiable and we dont want to be responsiable for the closure at rowher flats and gorman since they are pretty close to each other.

we need an other winch and truck. thanks

Not that it makes a huge difference, but that truck should be closer to 4,000 pounds. 5250 is the GVWR, which includes the truck and the maximum amount of allowable cargo inside it.

Have you called the CHP? You should probably let them know what happened, so if ,and let hope not a brush fire does happen they will know what the deal is.

BTW I recommended your remove the battery out of that truck ASAP before is shorts against something and starts a fire.
