holy crap you can make a lot of money at Toyota

Well it may not seem like much to you all, I would gladly install seatbelts and cupholders for $70,000 per year.

I had visited with a lady where I work, and she mentioned she used to work the line at Toyota in Indiana. She said they all made good money and everyone that worked with her on the line had a master's degree.

I started snooping around the web and found an NPR article about Toyota and unions....and it mentions this lady who used to be a manager at DQ for $20000/yr now making 70000 at Toyota

where do i sign up?

Link to the story on NPR:

Always plan for a Rainy day...When it doesn't arrive...MOD MOD MOD...but never go below the rainy day limit you set!

there are links on Toyota.com for their employment opps. They have a system to submit your resume for consideration at their manufacturing plants in Indiana, Kentucky, Texas, etc.

http://www.toyota.com/toyota/about/jobs/JobsSearch.do

I'm sure you do work your a$$ off and complain about your job except for Friday, but I do that in my current line of work. Only differnce is a job at Toyota would be almost twice the money!

Those are extraordinary wages w/out being union. Makes me wonder what the benefit packages are like (they don't mention much except for on-site child care and recreation opportunities).

HeHe...That was my point exactly. I'm in the same boat as you.

As far as the benefits go...I got to believe they must be pretty good. If Toyota wants to keep the Unions out, they have to pony up more than just a very good paycheck to keep people happy. Ie: Healthcare, Pensions Etc.

Twice in Two years? Not nearly enough my friend. If you seriously want to work there then you got to start Knocking their doors down. Try twice a month...Keep after them...Follow up with phone calls. Otherwise your Resume just sets in the dead paper pile soon headed for the recycle bin.

Show them you WANT to work there!

Wow, I'd be in for that. I wouldn't mind working there for 70k a year!

Goupe hire sounds like a good idea to me!

I talked to this lady that used to work there some more today...interesting stuff.

She told me they started her out at $30/hour. They paid 100% of medical bills starting your first day at work. They have free onsite daycare.

The told me the first 3 weeks or 3 months (I can't remember now) she didn't see the floor of the line. She did physical training for half the day and was in the classroom the other half of the day. They were "indoctrinated" with the history of Toyota and the Toyota way of doing things.

The downside, she said that it was regular to work 70+ hours per week. She said they had places to sleep at the factory because when it got busy you didn't go home.

She said most people loved their job even with the long hours but that they work was so strenous that people didn't last long. There bodies would give out.

Everything was timed down to the second with everything she did. If they saw you had an extra second they would require you to do more in less time.

Again very interesting IMO.

How long ago did she work there?

70+ hours a week is steep, but if it includes some down time (sleep) with pay...Might not be to bad.

She worked there in '02 and '03 in the Indiana plant. Intially working on the Tundra and then the Sienna (which she said was the busy time when they changed body style)

35k for 40hr work week or 70k for 70hr work week, you guys must not be math majors but thats not much different. The time you have for YOURSELF has value too. Having lots of money but no life isnt the life to live.

I get what your saying with "The time you have for YOURSELF has value too." What I don't understand is Just exactly why you had to toss in "you guys must not be math majors"...

I'm going to include myself in the "you Guys" you speak of since I have posted a few times here on this thread.

I don't want to make an issue out of this but I will leave you with an Oklahoma thread: http://www.sde.state.ok.us/test/SAT/SATstateSCORES.pdf

Are we math majors...nope just YT members
