I agree also that this thread seems to have drifted off topic. We may lock it down the arguement is becoming circular...
I would say don't lock it down. No one has resorted to name calling or personal insults, and its interesting what each persons perception on the topic is. I don't really see it as having drifted off topic...wabbit originally started a thread about cussing and swearing on YT, and I think addressing or discussing personal preferences and the rules therein is perfectly relevant. If it becomes a hot button where people start slinging insults and attacking one side or another, then yes, it should be. By that time, it will have have devolved into a politcal type discussion with insults and feelings hurt.

Granted, the rules will not be changed no matter how much any of us jump up and down or turn red in the face.

Now you see, I never could understand that.
Growing up you used the middle finger as an insult.
More than likely two things would come about from it which almost always ended up in doing battle with someone.
Either you kicked their butt, or you got yours kicked.

Try that as an adult, and you could end up getting shot or stabbed.

I see total strangers to each other doing that there who do not know the other party they are talking to.
OK, try this as an experiment.
Drive down your town or on the freeway and flip someone off.
Report back here your observations from that action, that is if you are still in one piece.

Actually the rules did change a tad, but not this one.
Staff worked last weekend on revising the rules a tad.
Check the link on the forum index page for an updated rules page.

Be careful, when curse words are over-used, the Geldon dragon is summoned.

Stalking members in threads is a rules violation......

I wonder how many points I have against me?

So many, that some of us have wondered if you're impervious to the banhammer.

He he he, I have a stalker, but not on this forum.
He came into my buildup thread elsewhere and started to cut down the axe/shovel mounts I had made that were on top of the stock roof rack.
I had drilled the axe and shovel so bolts would go through them, and the material was sound, not weakened.
I no longer used that setup though since I had switched over to the dual Four Trek mounts for the rear of the rack.

However that also came off when I got the roof top tent installed, and I switched to the Hi-Lift Handle-All combo which is stored behind my seat.
He then tired further to antagonize me by saying the tools I had prior were still unsafe, and that my cargobox had better be secured.

In other words, this guy was looking for an online fight.
He had no other comments on my build, he just looked for negative things to day.
Sad person indeed.
And of course the cargobox is secured.
He got told by the moderator over there to start a new thread and to not mess up my thread.

This guy was also banned here for stupidity on his part, so I guess he wanted to cause trouble elsewhere, and it backfired on him

I was not condoning the flip off smiley, it was just an observation on what is acceptable on some forums. I consider YT my home Toyota Forum..

What is more terrifying? Slow methodical enslavement and oppression, or a drastic change to freedom and self sufficiency.

True freedom does not come slowly, never has laws passed to reform it, and is always paid for by human sacrifice.

hmm. I wonder if the jumbled letter thing would work for the 'F' word. Who among us is brave enough to try it...?

Being brave could also end up in a permanent ban like a few others got over the past year.

I appologize...I too am guilty of this, and will try to be more considerate in the future, after all...They say a weak mind uses profanity to express itself strongly, I guess I am just weak minded sometimes...lol
My kids also read this site, and want to be invovled in yotas, and mechanics in general, I also DO use some profanity in front of them...not the "F" word or anything like that, but some others... I know they already hear that stuff at school... but to hear it from me sort of validates it...i guess, so I will even try to use less profanity in real life.

Agaim...I am sorry if I have offended anyone in the past.

uhhhh, i got a cell phone pointed at me = like it was a gun. in oxnard.

since the guy had cut me off and then tried to slam into me i saluted him.
followed me off the freeway and then got out to address me and pulled out his cell phone and pointed it my direction.
i think me LOL made him use all his cuss words in 1 sentance.
did the right thing, called the cops and watched him get hauled away.
