Here we go again

Another typhoon drawing a bead on us.

Click the image to open in full size.

Click the image to open in full size.

Winds of 130 knots with gusts of 160 knots and the eye forecast to be within 65 miles of us. More than likely, the eye will pass over us again.

Edited for a better SATSHOT.

It's the 15th of the season in the western pacific and will be the third one to nail us directly.

I'm as prepared as can be. It shoud be here in about 12-16 hours. Probably last about 30 hours.

TYPHOON PARTY!!

Hang to to your hat Woody.

Most of the Typhoons come from your SE, right? I know these types of storms generally travel on a NW track, but has Oki ever been hit by a developing storm from the SW?

Thats how it is here in SW Fla. The ones we have to be extremely concerned with are the ones that come out of the eastern Gulf of Mexico a la Hurricane Donna in 1961 (way before my time).

Be safe and provide us with that award winning web cam hook up again if you can.

Cheers.
Keep us posted,

Doug M.

Man, that thing is really wrapped up. It looks even bigger than the last one. Hopefully your home will be on the lee side this time, too. Yeah, you don't want to be in the Northeast quad of an approaching hurricane in the Northern Hemisphere. Good luck again, and keep us posted.

Bob,

The eye is still forecast to be 65 miles to our west, which will put us in the NE quad

It's also been upgraded to a Super Typhoon. I think Super Typhoon is gusts over 150 knots.

It's just kinda parked to our SW since last night. The weather guessers say it is supposed turn N some time today.

We're getting about 40 knot winds here right now. Supposed to go up to around 100 knots in about 6 hours.

Thanks for asking.

Thats awesome. I've heard that a double eye wall is only found in the strongest of storms and is very rare. Thanks for the pic. As you might be able to tell, Hurricanes and big storms get me excited.

PS Ocean looks rather calm in the web cam pic. for such a big storm off your coast.

Paul,

Winds are out of the east now and that webcam is on the west coast (leeward). It is also shallow water to about 2 miles out and then it gets deep and "sporty".

It's about 152NM SW of me moving N. It's supposed to get exciting here in about 3-4 hours.

Second day in the house with a 9 month old and seven year old boy and wife.

Thanks Bob.

So far, the worst part has been cooped up for two days.

I hope this thing gets moving.

Phil,

The webcam is at a restraunt a couple of miles from my house at a place called Sunabe Sea wall. Lots of people go scuba diving there.

It's 2:30AM so there's nothing to see now but earlier it was pretty lively water.

60 knot winds now as it passes to our west. The Japanese clocked 80 meters per second winds at one of the outer islands. That's 178.95 miles per hour!
