Google SMS... Awesome service provided by Google

Anybody hear about this?

My buddy used it the other day so I investigated it, pretty damn cool if you ask me!! You can get movie times, addresses from phone numbers, restaurants by type of food in a given zip code, weather by zipcode and more!

Don't forget Google's OS which is due to happen (for real, Linux based of course). They're looking to be the OS suppliers for the "under $300 PC" vision.

Yeup.

I have a buddy that's coding for Google. He says it's AWESOME. The amount of money that they're throwing into R&D is just like the old days. If a dev wants something - ANYthing - they have it. My buddy needed 100 machines for proof-of-concept of a design he was workiing on.

...About 2 weeks later 100 new blades showed up on a pallet.

Check in with this page from time-to-time. They don't always advertise the new stuff:

What??? me go out on a limb without backup? NEVER! (well, not this time anyway! )
"According to the paper, Google's new PC will not run Windows. Rather, it will use an OS created by Google. Pricing is reputed to be in the "very cheap" range, which I'm guessing would put it in the sub-US$300 category. Google has reportedly been in negotiations with Wal-Mart about carrying the device, whatever it may be. That would give Google's device instant reach."
