Ive been looking around at supras and I came across one that I think is the one. Its hasWhite 2DR Coupe, 163000 Miles, Manual Transmission, 2WD, 6 Cylinders, Good Condition. 89 SUPRA TURBO 5SPEED. Reconditioned at 161K. Good condition, Clean exterior and interior. Removable TARGA top, Climate control, very rare all white pkg. Limited slip differential. New radiator, brakes, water pump, alternator & clutch installed at 161K. Two new tires just installed. Comes with 10 disc CD changer. K&N Air filter. $3000 OBO.)I figure i'd test drive it and ask to get the compression checked. Is 3000 or so a good deal? Anyone know anything about this year of supra? I read that they have headgasket probs.

I would try to get the price down to $2k. I was looking for ones before too except I was planning on paying 5-7k for an 89 with around 100k mi. And definitly check the hg because that's the worst problem, ask if he re-torqued it, or got a metal one instead.

Also check for any other mods, like if he has a turbo timer, if he has a boost controller, the turbo's were probably driven hard. And if they are stock factory turbo's and haven't been changed, don't expect too much life outta them. And what does reconditioned mean?
