Found a nice new political debate forum

www.2008debate.com is a debate forum that a friend of mine set up. So instead of getting banned for political stuff there is another outlet.

I'd hate to be a moderator there.

I did a little reading there. Sounds like a bunch of kids whinning about things they know little about. But what the heck, when I was 16-25 years old, I thought I knew everything too.

It took me a long time to figure out what my father was telling me when I was in that age group. We'd be sitting at thanksgiving dinner, me the college kid home for the weekend, spreading my knowledge and my dad would always say, "Only a fool believes he is a wise man. A wise man knows he is a fool."

Being a fool is not a bad thing. Being a bad fool on the other hand...

I believe that even though I don't understand all issues fully, I do like to have civil discussions with people because I belive it will help me learn...especially from people who are "wise fools".

The point of the quote is to say that a person cannot possibly know everything about everything. Hence, it is a fool who believes he is a wise man. The wise man, already accepts that he cannot possibly know everything, hence his admission of being a fool.

So you ride yourselves over the fields
and you make all your animal deals
and your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick.
- Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull)

I couldn't resist.
