Thanks for the kind words guys!
As for your questions about the paint job... it's actually my 4th at-home full-car spray job. My neighbors don't mind at all, mainly because I spray it at my friend's house. Ha. The trick is to use a lot less reducer, and shoot at a super low air pressure. This way the paint doesn't fly all over the place, and there's pretty much no detectable fumes outside of a 10ft radius. Normally we'd spray inside a tarped-off garage, with three big fans strapped to charcoal-infused filters, but this thing didn't fit in the garage. There's a tiny bit of dust, and a few bugs in the paint, but nothing worse than the mud and scratches that's going to be on the paint job anyway, so it doesn't bother me too much. What DOES bug me, is the orange peel resulting from the improper spray conditions. I'm not planning to color sand and buff, but I did make sure the 5 coats are thick enough to rub out deep scratches if needs be. Came out decent for a $50 paint job though. ![]() gilby4runner: Next time you see it please snap a picture for me! I actually ordered a plate "88 MCFLY". Dorky, I know. -danny |

Very nice truck, I like it alot.
Dont worry about the paint job to much, it will only get beat up over time.

and windshield trim, marker light trim, lower valance.
But quit complaining, it's super close and an AWESOME job regardless of IFS. If you ever decide to sell it, sell it as a movie truck that they used. I bet you could get 10 grand.

Haha yeah! There are tons of stuff that's not "correct". But I personally dislike cars/trucks that are FULLY painted... looks like a cheap maaco paint job where the dudes didn't take any time to mask anything. (Not that my paint job itself is any better than maaco...).
I do have the mud flaps and the rear wheel well plastic thing, just going to get them black-er before putting them back on. Truck would also need 15x7's, 31" tires, and a super cute brunette in the passenger seat to be fully correct. Back to the future junk is selling like crazy on ebay these days though... due to the new Nike Hyperdunk McFly shoes that are going for $1500 a pair. Maybe I should throw this one up there for s and giggles. -danny |

Yeah man, the way I see it it's not your truck if it's exactly the same. Doesn't have to be perfect as long as it looks mean and you've hit the nail on the head there. Too bad Mcfly didn't drive a white 85 4runner or I'd be in business!

By the way, I was watching it the other day and from the quick and blurry shot of the interior the seats look to be SR5. Just an FYI.

Looks good.
Where did you get your paint? Did you mix in a gloss or run a clear coat? I'm planning on buying some ACE paint for my landcruiser after matching the factory Judson Green.

SC4runner: I buy my paint from www.tcpglobal.com. Paint is OK, prices are OK, but stuff gets here within 3 days of ordering, so it's pretty convenient for me. I've actually done a roller paint job with a bucket of rustoleum paint from home depot once. It turned out decent, just way too labor intensive. Good way to go if you don't have a compressor though. Oh, I didn't shoot clear, I just shot single stage acrylic urethane. Because...
![]() ...It's already totally scratched up from the trails. Everyone else: Thanks for all the kind words, guys! -danny p.s. I was at a parking lot, far away from my truck, when I heard from across the lot someone saying to their friend, "what are you lookin' at, butthead?". That made my day.
