My friend had one once, cost about $800 if I remember right. Had hip problems from the get go. Came from a pet factory shop.

Go to a breed specific rescue site. I got my female Siberian from one, with her papers and everything. Some of the sites will even have puppies. My girl was 3 when I got her, she had a few issues, but I did not have to go through the puppy destruction phase.

DO NOT buy from a pet store, If you do buy, go to a reputable or local breeder. check out their facility, there are so many puppy mills out there.

I second that, DO NOT BUY FROM A PET STORE!

They support "puppy mills" and those dogs are so sick and dying before they even get to the pet store. Google "puppy mills" and you'll be horrified by the pics and stories. You can look up breed specific rescues and ask for breeder referrals and expect to pay $1800 - $3500 for a healthier bloodline. Also to explain why EBs are so much. They can't be born on their own due to their wide head and frame. So they are all whelped by a c-section. That costs money, and if you average out 3-6 pups per litter, that's not much where the breeder can recoup their expenses. Thefore the inflated price. A good breeder should only charge per pup to recoup whelping expenses.

Here's my brother's dog:Click the image to open in full size.

And next to my Boxer: Click the image to open in full size.

He contacted a local Bully club and they had a retired show dog that he adopted. He had to pay for the spay & vet visit. Came out to about $400. She is a nice dog, but I would never get an English Bully, they have so many health problems. Can't breathe, can't run, can't eat, lot's of trachea problems, eye problems, weight problems, hip problems. It's a damn shame what people have done to this breed. If they don't breed to make them healthier, they should just stop breeding them. 2 pennies.

unless you plan on breeding, a rescue or the local shelter are THE ONLY places to look.

If you do decide to get an english bulldog, you might want to consider dog insurance.

I'll stick with the more active breeds then one that breaths heavy just getting up from a nap.

I'm sold on the Heeler breads. I'll be moving out here soon, and plan on getting another dog for my Red Heeler to have a friend. Hopefully I can find a Blue Heeler.

I've never had a dog that we bought from a Breeder except for our old Yellow Lab when I was a kid. All of them have been rescues. I think they are more loyal and loving that way, personally.
